Synapse Audio has announced the release of Orion x64, the 64-bit edition of its music production package for Windows XP64 and Windows Vista 64.
This new edition is said to have substantial technical advantages over the 32-bit edition.
The restriction to about 2.5–3.5 GB of usable memory on 32-bit systems is lifted, which is designed to benefit memory-intensive VST plug-ins such as sample-based instruments. Second, 64-bit software runs significantly faster than 32-bit software. CPU-intensive plugins can gain up to 30–80% in speed, allowing for more complex projects, according to Synapse Audio.
Pricing & Availability
The 64-bit version of Orion is available to all registered Orion customers free of charge.
New customers can buy Orion for $99 and get access to both the 32-bit and the 64-bit edition.
