I have this drumkit two weeks ago and it blew me away. I was initially a Yamaha DTXPRESS then a kit with real leather and mesh and finally a true BFD acoustic drum for 3 years. And even with respect to the acoustic drums were found there with the DM10. Of course some subtleties can not be simulated by electronic drums but the sound is really great and varied.

Positives: plethora sounds really good (there's something for all tastes), the module with full settings, and especially the ability to add new sounds (proprietary format, so it takes reaming libraries, c is the case for the first few days since for fifty dollars), the Surge cymbals that make good once resolved, can create their own kits from existing sounds, the presence of effects (reverb, ...) and even a compressor and an eq, it is beautiful and inspires confidence in the rack, sensations when hitting the pads are realistic.
The negatives: you must set the module but it is not very complicated, hi-hat is a bit simple with a single area, I have a Roland hihat pedal as the original pedal did not work well on openings (should update the module?), the drumkit is noisy especially the bass drum pad (bring a mat in the back pedal and pad to cushion and prevent the vibrations are transmitted through soil, it bp with a recurrent batteries "silent"), the supplied headphones (sometimes) with the accessories pack sucks in providing a voucher to get the most out of the drums, the sound of the toms resonate too much for my taste, I would have preferred sounds clearer.
I do not often give advice on products that I gain here but I really wanted to say that this drumkit completely satisfy me and even surprised me (nothing to do with Yamaha DTEXPRES origins). After testing a TD12 quickly, I can say it is quieter but I prefer the sounds of the Alesis, especially as the realism of pads with their skin that are not mesh is really excellent.
