Both the TD-9KX2 and TD-9K2 include an updated TD-9 Percussion Sound Module, which includes about 30 new expressive sounds and adds new kits to the original TD-9 factory kits. 99 kits are now available, to cover various musical styles. The update also adds the ability to play MP3 files via USB flash media.
With the TD-9 Percussion Sound Module, sounds can be edited with a graphical interface. Ambience effects and EQ can be added to create custom kits, which are stored to internal memory. Drummers can archive a library of custom kits and settings from the TD-9 via USB flash media. For practice, the TD-9 features the Scope function, providing feedback of timing on a screen. The onboard Quick Record/Quick Play feature allows drummers to record and play back solo drum performances or drum parts performed with any of the internal songs, Roland says.
Both the TD-9KX2 and TD-9K2 feature Roland’s multi-layer mesh heads for the snare and toms, with rim triggering available on all pads. The new KD-9 Kick Pad includes a new cloth-designed bass drum head. The new CY-13R ride (with three-way triggering) and CY-12C crash V-Cymbals are designed to offer a natural swinging motion and playing feel, according to Roland. The TD-9KX2 also now includes the VH-11 V-Hi-Hat, which mounts on a standard acoustic hi-hat stand.
Pricing & Availability:
The new kits in the V-Tour Series are shipping now. MSRP is $3199 USD for the TD-9KX2 and $2299 USD for the TD-9K2.
