    BBE 362 Sonic Maximizer

BBE Sonic Maximizer 362Published on 06/30/24 at 13:52
I put this device in the effects loop of my older Digitech 2112 SGS and it does perfect phase alignment of the frequencies inside the unit.
The 362 made the older Digitech unit sound as good as any of today's amp Modelers or IR.
This friend of mine decided to "capture" the sounds of 2112 and the Sonic Maximizer.
Great in effects loops on pedalboards, amp effects loops or between multi effects processors.
It's not an EQ, Compressor .... it is a time phase correction unit, that give great results in the speaker department.

    SOUND QUALITY

Bought 65 euros a month ago, I do not regret my choice.
The machine appears robust and trs is very simple to use.

BBE Sonic Maximizer 362Published on 04/29/09 at 15:26
The BBE Sonic Maximizer 362 is a dual channel exciter that is analog based. It has two sets of 1/4 inch inputs and output for each channel and is a rack mountable unit that will take up two rack spaces.

    UTILIZATION

The configuration of the BBE Sonic Maximizer 362 couldn't be any easier than it is. It simply has two knobs - one for lo contour, and one for process. The higher you go turn up the process knob, the more "excited" your signal will get, meaning the more of this effect will be engaged. The lo contour is there for evening out your signal and for all some low end presence after you have jacked up the high end. I have never seen the manual for the BBE Sonic Maximize…

The lo contour is there for evening out your signal and for all some low end presence after you have jacked up the high end. I have never seen the manual for the BBE Sonic Maximizer 362, but it is easy enough to use that you definitely don't need it.

    SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of the BBE Sonic Maximizer 362 really isn't that impressive in my opinion. While I do like using an exciter in the right situation, and BBE is primarily known for the exciters that they make, the 362 just doesn't do it for me. I have tried the BBE Sonic Maximizer 362 on all sorts of instruments, including electric guitar and acoustic guitar, but I haven't found anything that I would really use and print this on. I do like some of their other units, but the 362 comes off sounding dry and tinny in my opinion.

    OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the BBE Sonic Maximizer 362 for about two years and I'm just not a fan of this unit. It is easy to use, but the sound quality isn't impressive and I have never found a situation where I would go back to try using this again. It is very cheap, which probably has something to do with the poor sound quality. If you are really in need of an exciter, I would recommend picking up the BBE Sonic Maximizer plug-in, as it sounds much better than this and will save you a lot of headaches.
