Superb and timeless concept for sound-processing

Totally worth the money if you're still somewhere using the analog stage of recording or mastering! I see people selling this thing for 50 euros now, which is insane value for money.

Me and my cousin bought this unit somewhere late 1993 in order to beautify old tape-recordings (often even from cassette-tape) and planned to also use it during mastering of new recordings, dance-mixes, remixes and own audio for film/video-productions. I liked it so much that I've also used it in the end-stage of mastering pre-recorded FM-radio broadcasts for years on end in the 1990s.

Recently (in 2025) I dusted off the box and connected it again, and am honestly amazed by its quality output. Not only does it still work as new, it totally outperforms most of the (expensive) 'enhancer' and 'exciter' plugins that I've used for the last couple of decades. Even ones I paid for.
If you solo out its output you can clearly hear what it does, and how well it does that. Behringer have truly delivered class audio processing with this device. Not sure how or what they've decided to create those harmonics with, but they truly work wonderful for the human ear. This device actually does what it says on the tin:
The output creates airy crisp VERY warm sounding harmonics for the high notes, harmonics that remind me of old tube-amp artifacts from the late 1970s, it sounds purely analog to me.
And its low end harmonics peak with truly sub-bass content of 80Hz and below, which also boosts the warmer end of the lower spectrum perfectly well.

I will add a photo of how I've set it recently mixing a live performance which I've also recorded from the desk with the UltraFEX II EX3100 using Aux sends so I could control what instruments/mics should have what amount of added harmonics. The sound of this device sincerely amazes me still. It's the thing making an end product in audio sound warm and fuzzy. Just do some testing on the amount to add, find out the ratio between wet and dry before doing the actual productions, gigs or performances and you'll be glad you used it. The low-end can be too much quite fast, so use it scarcely, but if you high-pass the high harmonics set at its max frequency (around 8kHz) it's pure bliss for the human ear!

Ever since rediscovering this unit I've started to also use it as a DJ, it works really well over large PA-systems too, even as an in-between before active speakers. THD is insignificantly low, and I/O is symmetrical/balanced so no worries there.

    Doubtful

Behringer they say it is a processor for improving the multi-band sound. This is what is written on the front. After the instructions, they say ".. the principle is based on a selective phase rotation frequency addition dependent correction program and broadening of the pulse .. "(?) Basically, if I understand it is a processor that adds frequencies where there is none. I'm really sorry if this attempted explanation is not entirely accurate but I am perfectly candid!
In this unit there is also a noise reduction system! It is a bit like the compressor is like an expander in fact!
There is also a processor for bass that either adds or the amplified in fact for once I do not know.

Even after there is a surround function according Behringer can amplify and improve the spatial instruments!

    UTILIZATION

It's super easy! You turn it button presses, we listen and drive Simone and Michel!

    SOUND QUALITY

Honestly I've always been dubious. In fact in hindsight the effect not generate this device may very well be dispensable even though it may seem convincing at first. I tried many things, my keyboards, my bass, flute guitar and my voice. While it is true that bah well balanced it can be fun at times, but poorly proportioned (and it's super quick!) Music or voices become too hard or shiny metal! In fact, the effect must be discreet. So discreet that it should hardly be heard. So this is why I remain very skeptical about the real utility of this ULTRAFEX.
I think the surround effect is really bad because it completely distorts instruments. on the other hand I think the treatment is quite low if not abused too. Ah yes, and then, something that is still important, I never found a breath!

    OVERALL OPINION

In fact, for the quality / price and all I can not really have since given me notice the report. on the other hand for sure if I had paid I would surely regret my purchase home so he spends more time off kindled!
I tried to use several times on stage as well, and frankly it's really a blow to get the sound engineer who welcome you back, since apparently it's super hard for them to make a proper balance when this unit is used.
One thing that is really super cool is its manual that really great comprehensive and informative!
By against something that is really less is the quality of its decision Xlr is really not great, it's all plastic and especially fragile ')

Spatialized audio image increases the dynamic low acute mdiums (sparment of course), blurs the background noise (dnoiser)

    6.35 jack or XLR conection between L / R Output L / R

    1 rack unit 19 "

    UTILIZATION

Extremely simple setup, no need for manual, good ears only

    SOUND QUALITY

The bass is REALLY stronger, the more spatial Stereo (wide)

I tried it on a headphone on 600 watts rms, and 2 kilos watts rms

essay with a groove box, cd turntables, samples of well grimey or live just to see if we can amliorer sound, a subwoofer only

    OVERALL OPINION

    2 weeks

I love: its simplicity in his modest audio punch, its price, sturdy knobs all the same

I do not like: ??????? not found but will

I essaybr /> - the ULTRAFEX 3200, it is much more powerful
    - A brand dsseur Sabine, of course see nothing but the price also

mine is a coupled spectra analiseur 2 x 31 keys, the set comes a given sound enough even on high-end speakers "cardboard"

I expect a rcuprer 3200 all of the same, but I do not regret my choice
