INSTALLATION NOT IN PRO 2000!!

GETTING STARTED

After passing under XP, I run to listen to CUBASE VST.
Latency 6 AGAINST MS 745 MS WITH MY REALTEK D ORIGIN.
AND, SURPRISE!
NO DIFFERENCE IN SOUND QUALITY WITH AC 97! IF THIS DOES THAT I CAN NOT EVEN
CUBASE PUT IN THE BACKGROUND WITHOUT stuttering as if I had a P 166!!
WITH MY INSTRUMENTS REAKTOR dying IN CUBASE!! MY OLD SETUP: ATHLON XP 1800 IS TWICE AS FAST AND STABLE! MY SETUP IS AS NICKEL (I AM SPECIALIZED IN COMPUTER TECHNICIAN AUDIO VIDEO)
THE BOUQUET IS THE REGISTRATION CAN NOT ROUTER THAT THE MEAN FOR THE RECORD IN-HOUSE!
REQUIRED TO CONNECT THE OUTPUT WITH ENTRY AND SO GO 2 TIMES A CONVERTERS!
Great for so-called PRO CARD!

I USED SINCE THE 4 DAYS AND I AI L repackaged for LA ME A REFUND!
SAY IT WITH REALTEK INTEGRATED ON A 100 TIMES BETTER!

The value for money is nice for ONE WHO HAS NOT AND THAT OF TELE uses his PC CINEMA AS A MAN.

I have chosen for its sound quality (24 bits/96kHz recording, 192kHz read with a good signal / noise ratio), the format box indpendant (less prone to interference, a map int gre) for its FireWire interface, and nice face.
First used with Windows XP SP1 and SP2, and Vista 32 bits. Also try with Vista 64 bit. I use 2 PC with successive (in both cases using the firewire connector to a motherboard MSI).

UTILIZATION

Dpend the ease of installation of the OS. Basically, and we need to know, Terratec has developed and test the card for Windows XP SP1. And that's all.
Under SP2, the problem is not so much from Terratec that Microsoft has made changes in its firewire drivers causing moult problem with these peripherals. Must Tlcharger patches (Microsoft) use the card to arrive, otherwise it will sound hach ​​or no sound at all.
When installing the latest issue of drivers, the installer launches an update of the firmware of the card, which in my case a cabbage and let the map inoprante. It took me a fiddle in hand Relan the updater day (found in Program Files) to get out.

GETTING STARTED

Provided you have the correct firewire support (chipset + driver), no problem of stability. This n'tait unfortunately my case with my first PC. My new PC is much more stable in firewire, and sound card is better off.
Under Vista, the support provided by Terratec is lamentable: the drivers have six months out, it's still (one year out of APRS Vista) beta version, and if the sound drivers work, the panel CONTRL is inoprant (if your intresss I dvelopp a java version CONTRL panel that runs on Vista - send me a message).
The ASIO drivers work well (or even better than the WDM drivers), and offer more flexibility (you can choose the application to which channels send signals). We can get a latency of 5ms, but I RULES 15ms for more stability.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 3 years, and I am satisfied in sound quality, which my main proccupation silent.
But I'm not that I would do sr choosing the firewire bus as give difficulties encountered with it (pnibles rsoudre problem, either rsolus by updating the bios or by patches of operating system - the problem is that the problem tend rapparatre days each time the OS).
Regarding the monitoring of Terratec I trsdu: they crivent a driver out of the product, then it does take up more then (except out of the drivers remaining in the Eternal "beta" and I think tests are not same default yet seen some standards).

UTILIZATION

I am running XP, which makes the Windob plug & play relatively random.
My card is disconnected all alone, by a sudden, when I used the combo USB / power supply, a misery ....
on the other hand, once past firewire, no worries, you're set!

notice to those that have adopted for this card, a mandatory update of drivers is expected (as for all the cards .... but nevermind)

ultra-stable drivers but I have a big bike behind

Not enough update for my taste, but I have not really needed

- What software do you use most often?
Ableton Live 6.0, it works with the fire of god

- What you get lag?
I'm 6-ms latency, which I think is very respectable

- How many tracks do you manage to record / playback simultaneously?
I made the track by track, since there is only one microphone input

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 3 years, mostly alone (guitar & voice recording).

I really like the big knobs on the front that allow you to quickly change the microphone gain for example. This is my first real map, I change because I need more simultaneous inputs, otherwise, I do not be separated!

A 170 euri neyf now, I find the value for money really honest, and if I had to relive this experience, I would.

I still remember that this is a first-hand very well for a Zikos who wants to indulge in the joys of creation alone.
