I acquired a pair of VDSG8 to reproduce the sounds rear (surround) of a video installation.
So this is a secondary facility.
(The front and the bass sounds are managed by a home amp mosfets 2x150W RMS / 8 and 2 woofer speakers on the basis of 15 TSB. ")
Advantages: nice design, nice finish, it is not cheap, compact, trapezoidal shape. The components are finely crafted, beautiful baby boomer 20cm, with rubber, membrane corrugations. The tweeter looks like a Motorola original rectangular tweeter.
Good presence of medium and lower midrange, slightly forward. acute own, slightly down, a good serious well detailed, no subwoofer (with normal 20cm).
Linearity correct (I use no EQ).
That said, I did not measuring pink noise and spectrum analyzer.
No noticeable distortion at high power. No staining.
Woofer reasonable travel.
Disadvantages: subwoofer for a boomer of 20, down slightly acute, power handling and performance probably do not use the main facility.
Despite 300w announced and recorded on the woofer, I do not utilisarai beyond 100w rms, which is not bad for the small size.
value for money most excellent (I've paid 35 € each!)
Yes I will redeem the same for such purpose, without hesitation.
For a main facility of good quality to use as mid-high satellites with a subwoofer to enhance the band 30-80Hz.
SUPPLEMENT AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS OF USE:
after use and removal, here's what I can add:
slightly discolored (medium to low excess 150 Hz) was solved by adding glass wool of a fourth volume of the enclosure; modif that takes minutes by removing the woofer to make absolutely.
During disassembly, I observed cleats of reinforcement in the cabinet. Boomer is the bowl of cast steel, not stamped steel, which is better. The woofer has a central vent cooling coil.
The tweeter is a piezo type KSN 1016 series with a large ceramic protective resistance of 10 ohms.
The woofer is filtered by a lowpass filter LC type on a printed circuit.
In short, it's very well done.
