Fuzz pedal, that is all ...

The pure analog pedal size spaceship ^^
Volume and fuzz, an entrance and an exit and nothing need more.

UTILIZATION

Configuration is very simple, no need to be endowed with patience to deal with this pedal, simply adjust the volume, and the fuzz.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 1 year now, repeat and regular concerts, I never loose, not the least ready yet because I have in my hand without a doubt one of the best fuzz of the world ...

I also have a JMI Tonebender, a Schaller Fuzz Box of 68, and had in my possession several Big Muff different times and places of the earth, a MXR 108 (my first), and a Zvex Fuzz Factory

I sold the Bigg Muff, MXR and Zvex because it did not fit what I was looking for, and I bought the Axis Fuzz
This is currently the only fuzz I kept so long and I use constantly, JMI and Schaller are not part of my pedal-board but I use them in the studio when I want have very specific sound.

The Axis Fuzz is for me the best Fuzz pedal because amazingly versatile and unusual character.
It's simple, I would never sell and will even loan to purchase other ^^

The Roger Mayer pedals are very funky looking because they look like something out of the 60s futuristic television show. It looks like the flying saucer that the Jetsons would ride or even some half broken surfboard of some kind. Many of Roger Mayers pedals carry This unique and stylistic look that makes them very iconic. This is a very basic pedal and there's not a whole lot to it. You basically just control the volume and distortions and kick it on when you're ready to go. It is somewhat rather of a bigger size pedal compared to a boss or Ibanez pedal. It's a pretty large pedal compared to a Electro Harmonics Big Muff type pedal. You know it's a different shape it takes up a lot of room on your pedal board.

UTILIZATION


This is a very easy pedal to dial in and you basically have a couple controls to give you your overall volume and distortion. It's not a whole lot of experimenting as far as different types of versatility. Even a monkey could probably find a good sweet spot on this pedal with the current rack


SOUND QUALITY


This is basically a Jimi Hendrix style distortion tone in a box. This is actually the pedal that was built for Jimi Hendrix back in the 60s and was used on band of gypsies and was also the reference for his song called axis bold of love. So this is the tone that you want to get if you're looking for that nice 60s Jimmy styled fuzztone. So if you're trying to sound like Jimi Hendrix and this is the pedal tone plus if your other pieces of gear. First you need a Fender Stratocaster guitar, the actual sound that you can only achieve that Hendrix tone with. Next you need a Marshall Plexi style amplifier basically cranked to 11 so you're going to need an attenuator to keep the volume levels down as well. After that you need to have the style feel and approach the Jimi Hendrix has other than after that you never got a sound like him. It doesn't matter what piece of gear you own most of his tone and pretty much all of his feel and style comes from his hands.

OVERALL OPINION


These pedals come in at new price right around $290. That's a pretty expensive price for simply a fuzz pedal. However you have the Jimi Hendrix name associated with these types of pedals that drives up the price a little bit more. Honestly this pedal doesn't do anything more or better than some of the pedals that I've heard for 70 or $80. If you really want to get a good fuzztone then I suggest going with a simple old Electro Harmonics Big Muff.

This is a very simple, analog distortion pedal. It's just input and output, quarter inch cables for both. It runs on a 9-volt. No mac/pc editing capabilities, no audio/midi connections.


UTILIZATION

The setup couldn't be simpler. It's a pedal with in/output, and three knobs: There isn't too much in the way of sound/effects editing. The manual is pretty clear considering how basic it is.


SOUND QUALITY

This pedal doesn't really sound that great. It sounds like a cheap imitation of a better pedal like the Tube Screamer (which, at $20, it basically is.) It's noisier than most overdrive pedals (which is pretty noisy in my opinion). I used a Fender Strat with this, running it through a Fender Deluxe. It wasn't quite what I expected. It sounded like they were going for a more natural, output distortion sound. The reality is, it just makes your amp a little more gritty and a lot noisier. When added to a distorted channel, it didn't make it sound any better. It just made it, again, noisier. I appreciate how cheap this pedal is, but it doesn't really justify how bad the pedal is. I'd rather pay a lot for a good pedal than spend a few bucks on a bad piece of gear, which is what this thing is.


OVERALL OPINION

You can't beat the price, but you can easily beat the sound. Stick with natural distortion, just by turning the amp up; it sounds better than this. If you have an amp with two channels, this thing is pretty much unnecessary. Some people might think the added push that an overdrive pedal provides is necessary. I personally agree, however, this pedal is not that pedal simply because you'll get more noise than anything else. I didn't have to use this for more than a week to realize that it's not a good pedal. I didn't really like anything about it at all, and it ended up just being a waste of time since I returned it promptly. I wouldn't recommend this pedal to anybody.

So for the effect I would say that it's just (this is my business) one of the best effects Fuzz reproducing the sound of Jimi Hendrix during his concerts particulirement Woodstock and Isle of Wight (among other things. ..).

vintage 70's sounds. This fuzz is very high quality good job, for cons I found it very noisy, too much access to the treble, even way back in the settings. The grain is more accurate than a big muff, but the tone is not adjustable enough for my taste.

OVERALL OPINION

Is unfortunately the only fuzz pedal I've tried to Roger Mayer. I intend to try the classic fuzz, but the axis does not match the sound that I like. Afterwards, taste and color is very subjective ... In the same price range (it is still quite expensive) and for the same quality workmanship, I enjoy more with the 70 home Fulltone example.
