Ruby's 6L6GC is a standard vacuum tube that I've got experience using for electric guitar amps. I would imagine that most people looking at this review and looking at these 6L6GCs in general are checking them out for use in their tube based guitar amplifiers, but no matter what you're using these for are great tubes that will do the job very well. Most tubes of this size will generally get the job done I find, as I can't tell a difference in sound between these 6L6s and say those made by Electro Harmonix when I put them in a 1976 Fender Twin Reverb amp, which is the amp that I've used the Ruby 6L6GCs in. Recently when I've needed new tubes I've been trying out different brands to see if I notice a difference in sound quality, but I've found that I really can't tell a difference. Perhaps if I had two identical amps next to each other with different tubes in them I might be able to hear some subtle differences, but even in this situation I don't know if I'd be able to tell the difference. For this reason I generally shop for tubes in terms of price, reliability, and how long they will last. I don't really find that I need to change my tubes all that often anyway, but when I had the Ruby 6L6GCs in my Twin, they seemed to last a very long time. Perhaps this could just be coincidence, but because of this I've come to trust these Ruby 6L6GCs, and right now I've got a few of them on hand for when I need to make a change. I've also used a few other types of tubes in my Fender Twin Reverb like those made by Electro Harmonix, but these Ruby tubes seem to be as good as any out there...
