I use the plectrum for nearly a year.
I had never paid attention to the type of pick that I used (often provided with magazines, donated by friends etc) to several discussions with Patrick Hufschmid is a Swiss artisan luthier (gorgeous guitars) and whose activity also relates to the manufacture of plectrums (after ergonomic research and types of materials, etc.) which we understand the content after the test.
I tried everything you gave me and offered more conventional and commonplace as any guitarist after many years until some picks metal and shapes without feeling profound difference. I played most often on dunlop 1.1 or 1.3 mm I do not even know (the alligator drawn above)
What I find most amazing is that the pick becomes a participant element using the game in terms of ergonomics I was far from suspecting that it could be so powerful.
Sound issue I also think it participates and has an effect on final whether clear (the most obvious: highly crystalline) and saturated (many attack edge) and make a little velvety, this is strange I have not too many words to explain.
The day I received this plectrum I was a little confused! How to play a rhythm with a plectrum so big in every way? Well easily in a few hours and with a more consistent rendering. Rhythmic metal type rendering is perfect. A priori we say that it is better not push hard the strings saw the "track" but not in fact, it comes naturally and the attack requires less effort which greatly relieves wrist and hand muscles.
Solo guy (great word saw my level) and what is more accurate, cleaner, easier game. We must take his bearings and then we grew faster in my opinion. I put from 2-3 months to learn the basics of sweeping (which I had tried in the past) and I think there plectrum fact, its shape, a large part of the job, I really adheres.

With the experience I remake this choice and would continue. After 10 months I passed out of curiosity on a classic pick and jazz type III disaster! My marks (normal. ..) are now on the plectrum.

I think I could improve my mediocre game (I take after several years of stop) faster and cleaner than my simple tips picks plastics.

I invite the curious to try, my opinion is free and interest. I'm not a geek guitar and do not try anything out. There I was heckled, I tried and adopted!
After that Vai is playing with is that the May or I do not know what any teacher or school swears share this type of plectrum or simply judge that it is useless, I do not care, I ' have experienced, I have a very average, it's my passion outside of a very fascinating job and children also taking. I recently picked up two Hufschmid picks. First off I have to say Patrick's customer service is great. He takes the time to answer questions and is very informative. I had already ordered the PHD Anvil and really liked it but I was interested in the UHMWPE drop shape. I got the green one because green is my favorite color. Both picks are great and I don't think one is better than the other. They are very different from each other. The UHMWPE material feels very different compared to a normal plastic pick. Patrick explained that it's actually a fiber rather than a hard surface. When I got the pick it felt almost satiny. It doesn't slip much though. The tip is very precise. The tone of the pick is warmer than the PHD. It's a great all purpose pick but I love the way it sounds with heavy distorted chords. It also feels very nice to do sweep picking with. The thickness of the pick makes it very comfortable to hold on to. My hand feels much more relaxed holding it. It feels extremely durable. For the price I think you are getting a one of a kind pick made by someone who cares about what they are doing. This is not a mass produced pick that you can grab at any music outlet store. The tone and the feel aren't like any other picks I have played. To me that is completely worth the cost. I don't give it a perfect score because I'm not really sure what would be the perfect pick. Patrick does state that his picks won't make you a better player. He's not going to BS you into thinking that you will magically be better because you use his product. I guess it would be a 10 if it did make me a better player!
