The Buffalo Technology HD-PXT MiniStation is a portable USB 2.0 hard drive for storage and other purposes. I've got one of these drives for storing information for a music publishing job that I have. As the name suggest, it's a mini drive that doesn't require any power supply as it will power up when it's plugged into a USB port. It has it's own USB cable that comes out of it, so you won't need an extra one nor does a cable come with it other than this. It doesn't have any other ports other that this, which is fine with me as it eliminates the need to have an external cable or power supply with it at all. The drive comes in a number of different drive sizes, ranging from 320 GB to 1 Terabyte, although the version I've got is 500 GB. There isn't much more that is to be known about the make up of the Buffalo Technology HD-PXT MiniStation as it's aim is to be as simple as possible for portability purposes. I'm only using this drive to store music on rather than for running recording sessions off of it, so I can't really speak to how it would work for this application. However, in general it's usually a good idea to use portable hard drives like this for storage and use drives with their own power for sessions. Having said this, I certainly wouldn't be surprised at all if this were able to run sessions, I just do not have the experience to speak of this. In all other capacities, the Buffalo Technology HD-PXT MiniStation is effective and sturdy and should be the type of drive that lasts a long time. I've yet to have a problem with this Buffalo drive or any others that I've used. As far as self sustaining portable drives go, the Buffalo Technology HD-PXT MiniStation is one you should definitely know about.
