great guitar
Published on 11/03/24 at 02:36This is a great guitar with excellent wood, nice sustain and what it renders worth are the P94 which sound like single coils but are silent like humbuckers. With two volume controls and 2 tone controls, you can spread over a huge number of tones. Plus has a gorgeous look. Excellent guitar for rockabilly, blues, soul, pop rock and anything else... Jazz included.
The only thing I don't like of this guitar is the frequesator which makes the strings particularly tense and hard to pull. That might have pleased Mr Valensi who just rocks... but if you want to play the blues or deliver a good touch it is better to bring the guitar to a Luthier and change the tailpiece. It's a cheap operation.

It is pretty difficult to understand why Epiphone dismissed the guitar, renouncing at the same time to put on the market other P94 models! Probably just because Valensi is less popular nowadays... that does not mean that you should drop the pickups too. That's how the big market goes
Ok these are just my opinions but... this is also the guitar of the great Max Marinaio a songwriter guitarist into rockabilly, soul, blues... and more (even if he customized his guitar with a bigsby making it become a Max Marinaio model LOL). So if you are curious to listen to how this guitar sounds like when in skilled hands, go check him out and you won't be disappointed. P.S. this is not the only guitar he uses... so listen carefully for the sound of a semiacoustic. Surely he used it in songs like "All The Pretty Girls", "One two R'n'R" and the solos and arpeggios in "Daydream"See less00 - luchogie
Very good
Published on 08/24/10 at 04:46 (This content has been automatically translated from French)Lutherie ok. The tuners are Grover. The quality seems good.
The pickups are Gibson P94 U.S.. Surprising for a guitar at this price!
UTILIZATION
Very pleasant to play.
SOUNDS
The sound seems very good. Specific enough. This is my first semi-hollow so it's hard to judge.
OVERALL OPINION
The build quality looks very good. The guitar and and do this
No fault apparently. Only the headstock is a bit ugly, because they are too simple.
Not enough ornaments. Otherwise it sounds like a very good guitar.16
