« A very versatile super micro »
Published on 05/31/11 at 14:47Used for 2 weeks and mounted on a Vigier Excalibur supra.
This mic has come to replace a tone zone that I found personally that great but lacked a little accuracy for metal riffs but excellent for everything else.
The first observation regarding the manufacturing quality is nothing wrong, it's heavy and it shows. In terms of output level, it is quite sufficient for all uses (approximately at a emg 81). The sound is full with great precision and attack, ideal for legato.
Two very surprising also:
1: the dynamics are truly exceptional and the attack is very well respected in all circumstances. The round trip is really laid in value and there are many notes each.
2: The microphone does not saturate even clear when it is mounted relatively high and we hear all the notes of a chord even in saturation.
Ultimately, it was a very good case. The mic sounds like a cross in a tone zone and a DM DM steve special with the next big rhythm and precision of the first solo of the second .. Only downside, the metal matrix has a little less sustain than more certain micro nag and do not necessarily marries well split in parallel with a single in the middle (at the same time, I tried with the DM fs1 ).
I would do without hesitation that choice by any attention as well to provide an alternative mounting for the intermediate positions.
