I mounted my BC Rich NJ JRV 4 months ago. I like the very natural sound from the microphone, which although leaving a large gain, does not sound as a synthetic EMG-81 or SH-13.
During my first tests, the gaim seemed less important than the microphones of the origins of the guitar, but it turns out that I put the L-500 a little further than the strings of micro origin.
I also appreciate the accuracy of this microphone. Released on triamp is really nothing in common with the original pickups.
In summary, a less synthetic sound than its competitors in EMG and Seymour Duncan.
In terms of quality / price ratio? For me it was worth in terms of quality mics that I quoted above, but it is half the price. Only concern, it must be ordered directly from Bill Lawrence (I paid € 62 with shipping), and I had to wait a little over a month to receive it. But hey, that feels neat packaging the family business, with the timeline well done (by hand) and even do pretty postcard: D
I think if I had to equip a new guitar, I would resume a L-500 XL. And I think I will not delay to crack a louse L or R C-500 to replace my neck pickup.
