« Quality microphones »
Published on 11/08/12 at 01:11I bought a pair of imperial humbucker for mounting on a Epiphone SG that I bought without microphones so hard to make a comparison.
I replaced the knobs tone by spliter switch to the single coil microphones.
I end up with a range of sounds from slamming fender (attention, it is still not the sound of a strat) with the roundness Gibsonian. I am very satisfied with the quality of these microphones, despite their exorbitant price (I paid more than the guitar in question, then try to find occas').
I do not venture to speak of his vintage or modern because I did not really reference comparison. But these pickups are accurate. The sound is clear and the notes stand out well when playing chords, in singles and doubles.
It works very well in clean and crunch. For large distos, I do not know because I do not practice.
It's still very expensive, especially considering the number of manufacturers who offer this kind of microphones today.
A try for those who have finance ...
