« Excellent microphones »
Published on 04/30/11 at 10:20I ordered these pickups to replace Burstbuckers my new Les Paul Historic 59 that I do not particularly like.
I'm more accustomed to the WCR that equip two of my Les Paul's. We are in the same category with Throbak. Ie mikes shop supposed to reproduce the same sound that equipped the PAF Gibson guitars in the late 50s.
Having been trying original PAF, I would say that the bet is not far from won! They are outstanding pickups! The sound is very open with rich harmonic impressive! There is a je ne sais quoi of the three-dimensional sound that puts them a notch above their competitors (WCR Wolfetones, Lollar, etc ...).
Of course the sound is subjective but I think in the context of a replacement pickups on a Les Paul, it is imperative to integrate them into deliberations. In all cases, it is likely the microphones that will equip my Les Paul are the future Throbak!
