A great nostalgy-bringing arranger keyboard...
Published on 06/12/15 at 17:50The PSR-510 is a keyboard that I got in mid-90's, I think as a birthday gift. There were LOTS of buttons on its panel (!!!) but although it looked difficult for me (I was a preteen at the time), I could learn how to use it real fast. The user manual helped me a lot. I quickly learned how to combine sounds, make music through the 5-track recorder, and even create my very own styles.
About the sounds: there were 128 of them. Yep, it was one of the first GM Level-1 fully-compatible arranger keyboards. Most sounds were pretty decent for a 1993 mid-level instrument.
If I could find a "new" (because it's not new anymore, of course), well-mantained and fully functional PSR-510 today, I'd get it …Read moreThe PSR-510 is a keyboard that I got in mid-90's, I think as a birthday gift. If I could find a "new" (because it's not new anymore, of course), well-mantained and fully functional PSR-510 today, I'd get it without thinking too much, although I own a much more complex keyboard set today, but it doesn't matter. The PSR-510 is a synonim of nostalgy to me.See less00 - ratchovPublished on 09/03/04 at 07:42 (This content has been automatically translated from French)This is a keyboard-arranger-squenceur gnral noon. To play "time rel", we can split the keyboard, and play with sounds simultanment 4. It also has banks of memory to record and recall with a single touch almost complete configuration of the device.
Level connections, it:
- MIDI IN and MIDI out
- Headphone line-out
UTILIZATION
The grip is not IMMEDIATE, but the manual is trs, trs clear. Once you get used to the buttons, it works quickly trs. With arranger / squenceur can CRER a piece at a time EXCESS barely lasts the song. This is the cot is years Lumire of complexity and any loss of time squenceurs sophisticated computer. It is very practical to quickly patch up a support and improvise over.
The big problem is that it has only four pages of memory (each page contains a complete song). So we must hack and try to resettle the songs one after the other. We can use a computer to clear its memory, this solves the problem, but complicates things from rehearsals.
Level "MIDI", it is trs flexible making it easy to use with a computer squenceur. Sounds, too nombreaux are not too bad, especially the bass / drums.
OVERALL OPINION
I have a psr-510 for 8 years and I still have not found the simplicity elsewhere. Even if I possess the more powerful hardware, I still use it to make small arrangements and impoviser. Also, it helps me to patch up a guitar accompaniment when a friend goes home, without having to wait.
In short, it's a synth that is missing a few resources (not enough patch, not enough MMore), but is done with intlligence. I recommended him who wants CRER arrangements not too sophisticated, without losing time with the big squenceurs of computer science.See less50
