Korby Audio Technologies KAT 4Published on 07/17/10 at 19:28
The Korby Audio Technologies KAT 4 System is the most versatile microphone I've ever used without a doubt! It's a large diaphragm tube condenser microphone, but the catch is that it's actually got four different switchable capsules, which is really one of the coolest things I've ever seen for a microphone. The four capsules that it has are for four of the best microphones ever made, including an (AKG) C12, a (Telefunken) 251, and a (Neumann) U47 and U67. There is also a (Sony) C800 capsule available, but the one we have at the studio where I work just has the four aforementioned capsules. The mic comes with it's own power supply, cables, and a hard shell carrying case. You've cardioid, omni, and figure eight pick up patterns to choose from, as well as patterns in between them as well. The mic picks up frequencies between 30 Hz and 18 kHz.

OVERALL OPINION

What else can you ask for from a microphone that has four capsules to choose from, let alone four of the best capsules ever made? Simply put, the Korby Audio Technologies KAT 4 System is the most versatile microphone you can get. Having access to four different classic microphones within one is just too good to be true. I've used the mostly the U67 and U47 capsules, but all of them certainly sound outstanding. In fact, I was told that someone brought in a real Neumann U67 and shot it out with the Korby, and the Korby sounded better! If you're looking to get any of these microphones, it's probably your best bet to just go with the Korby Audio Technologies KAT 4 System, as it gives you more options and in most instances will actually cost you less. If you want the ultimate flexibility and sound in a single microphone, the Korby KAT system is it!

The Korby Kat4 is a micro tube of high quality trs. The particularity of this wish in the micro capsules that are interchangeable during the session. No need of any dye, as the tube in the body of the microphone. The Kat 4 comes with a reproduction of microphones trsrussie legends such as the AKG C12, the Elam Telefunken 251, Neumann U47 and U67. OVERALL OPINION

I use to mic for 3 months and I had the possibility to run tests with voices ranging from gospel to diffrent jazz to rap and instruments for classical music.
I made comparisons between diffrent capsules and a neumann M149, u89ai and BPM TB-95 passing in pramplis Neve and Telefunken. (Which could rvell it's not because a microphone is CHRE that is best suited to the source, as often U89 tomb in prfr s, but the Korby was always a capsule that was even better) I have the t trs tonn rsultat and fell in love with this microphone. My preferences are for singing between 251 and U67 U47 but sometimes the rev works well for voices that have a high medium pronounced. The U47 is quite dark while the U67 is extremely open. The 251 however is round and trs "veloutquot; (if that means anything ;-) but all the same open. I use the C12 primarily for strings and for now it ' Fidler is the sound of the instruments that I recorded. Also, if you have one of the microphones (251, C12, U47 U67 o) Korby can "tune" your microphone capsule corresponding pr brother !!!!!!!!
Having thus 4 type 4 capsule and its very practical to accommodate DIFFERENT types of equity and the quality is always by appointment.
For those who want to hear how this microphone sounds, here is a link to a site o the registration posts are comparative capsules and some of their original (English):

You just go down and you will find. Wav files as well as the deuxime page.
As a review in the micro englais by Bill Park of the magazine online prorec.com Korby:

The only inconvnient: its price. But compared to the original ... Finally .. you know the music ..
I am happy to have made this choice, it allows me to have a quality of sound recording of quality and above all adaptable to the sources in order to avoid the EQ!
