OVERALL OPINION
I've been testing in two weeks.
My first impressions have been very negative, indeed, I get the microphone in record time (a week and a half after ordering), so far very good, the packaging is perfect, a first carton filled with foam containing the second paperboard within which there is the case Peluso, so difficult to damage during shipping!
Then it turns nasty, the first thing that catches my eye, a bump in the briefcase from inside as if someone had forced when something stuck, then always the case, a rivet setting a corner of fully extended.
I open my suitcase to get out of the box containing the microphone: the box is apparently too short for the microphone, it is through this that the blow to the preformed foam torn! I begin to doubt the quality of the microphone before it has even been tested ... but I'm still here and, when attached to the microphone shockmount, after three rounds the thread is blocked because of a blunder! PS: supporting photographs if anyone is interested!
The sound: Fortunately this microphone to the sound quality to save: a voice is very beautiful, very sweet, even in the axis of the dish I had very little sibilant, an investment in the mix that is itself brief, very good in terms of sound quality. I compared with U87, we find the same sweetness in the upper spectrum with a high medium 1500-3000Hz less "pinched" on the Peluso as the Neumann. Many air with Peluso and a low characteristic of a good tube microphone.
Despite an impressive sound quality, I would not keep this microphone in effect for 2000 euro one is entitled to require in addition to a sound quality issue, a finish that is still a price level that is beyond the reach of all budgets.
