Agile LP-2500
Published on 01/08/11 at 15:00I believe I have the model right. It is a glossy black finished guitar with gold hardware and 2 gold humbuckers. Basically a copy of a Gibson Les Paul Custom.
I bought this right out of Kurt's shop when he was still at Rondo Music in Union NJ off of Rt. 22. I walked in there, played just about every Les Paul in the store and this one spoke to me. I believe it was $250.
The thing plays, feels and sounds like a real Les Paul! While we are being positive, my wallet thanks Agile as well. $250 is much easier to drop than $2500. I will not tell you this guitar is better than the real thing. If I'm honest I'd give it about a 6, but hey I like it.

None what so ever. I did replace the cheaper pots, jack and switch in this. To be honest I didn't really even give them much of a chance, but they are a bit puny looking and I thought I'd beef them up with some better quality hardware.
Solid. One thing that stands out is the set neck instead of the common bolt on which is used for most of the Les Paul Copies. The finish has held up great, the gold hardware is still gold. The frets are still in great shape and the thing plays in tune.
If you are like me and grew up lusting over a Les Paul, but can't seem to merit dropping the big bucks, this guitar will hold you over. I have played shows and recorded with it. No complaints at all. A TON of guitar for your dollar!

Agile LP-2500
Published on 06/05/03 at 15:00I bought this guitar from Rondo Music via the internet. I was always the cat that swore to high heaven that I , "would never in a million years buy a guitar that I could not pick up, hold, play and SMELL". Well, the good people at Rondo had several deals that were too good to ignore. This review is for the "Agile" brand version of the Les Paul style guitar. My wife is actually the hero here ... she stumbled across Rondo's web site while searching for my Christmas present last year (a very fine copy of a Hofner Beatle bass was the result ... but that's another review). My wife is actually the hero here ... she stumbled across Rondo's web site while searching for my Christmas present last year (a very fine copy of a Hofner Beatle bass was the result ... but that's another review). Anyway, I was so impressed with my Beatle bass that I looked them up. The web site was easy to navigate and the prices for the gear they described were outrageously low. I buzzed the "Harmony-Central" review site where both the guitars and Rondo Music had very good reviews. Even people that were un-happy with a purchase seemed to get no hassle returns and refunds (including shipping!). So, for a mere 250 American Dollars I took a chance on a Les Paul clone, transparent blue over a REAL quilted maple top. Body was solid mahogany, two zebra stripe humbuckers, no pickgaurd (would you cover up transparent blue quilt maple ??? Me neither!!). Get this, it also sports a SET (not bolt), hard maple neck with real mother of pearl trapezoid inlays. The logo is also has a nice inlay. Did I mention the carved arch top? Did I forget to tell you about the full body, neck and headstock binding? And the capper for this axe are six REAL GROVER tuning keys with a fine 18:1 ratio.
This baby gets in tune and stays in tune. The jumbo frets were perfectly dressed and the intonation was dead on, right out of the box. And last but not least, the finish is flawless!! Not a bubble, scratch or hazy spot. Just a shine that looks a foot deep. Bravo Agile, Bravo.
So I've covered the cosmetic and construction portions of the program, now lets move on to the swimsuit competion !!
This cat can sing. Sustain for days, low end that reaches out to hug you, Mids that offer very nice tone that sings through the mix and high end that cuts through without cutting you. This thing sounds great.
As fate would have it, my best friend's wife was looking for the perfect gift for a guitar player without a LP in the arsenal. She bought him a transparent blue FLAME maple Epiphone LP. A shoot out seemed to be in the cards for the four of us (him and his blue LP and me and mine). He's better guitar player than I am so we had to compare the guitars without accounting for playing ability (I'm a bass player ... remember the Beatle bass?).
So, to wrap this up neatly, we had the nearly $500 "Epiphone" (by Gibson) and the half the money, all the options "Agile". In every test the Agile stayed with or surpassed the Epi. The final Blinfold test resulted in my buddy picking my Agile ... the zebra stripe pickups had a slightly higher gain output than the Epi's standard chrome humbuckers. This led directly to warmer sound at lower volume and a slightly (and I do mean slightly) better crunch tone.
The verdict: For the cost of the Epiphone (and God bless them, it's a nice guitar), you can score two Agile LP's. You can get the transparent blue quilt maple AND the cherry sunburst flame maple top. I've also ordered a fabulous 5 string fretless w/amber quilt top ... no fret lines or dot markers (I think that's cheating on a fretless, don't you?). Bottom line is ... Give them a look, you'll be as surprised as I was.
