I play since 1959. and have owned some 50+ guitars; I still own about 25, 12 Gibson Les Pauls. This is the best one of all my guitars: Custom Shop Les Paul Silver Sparkle Florentine ... it has THE sound while all the rest is just like in the very best 1959 reissue Les Pauls (that I also have). OK, she is hollow, yet not as hollow as my ES-335 or ES-339 The sound is more 'classic' jazz-pop rather than rock and certainly not metal even though she can handle ultra high gain very well. In reality she sounds at home in jazz, rock, blues and pop ... The tuning stability is remarkable, the sound is sweet and she plays like a dream. It will be almost impossible to separate myself from her ... oh, well

I bought this guitar on ebay and was looking for an LP that was lighter (in weight) than all the other LP's I've owned. I paid $2300 for this axe and it was worth every penny.

The Florentine has a hollow body and the sustain on this guitar in combination with the H-57's just kicks butt! The axe is about a pound or two lighter than the LP standard or any other solid body LP which is a considerable factor if your going to strap this thing on your shoulder for a while.

I really have no dislikes, but if I had to complain about something it would be the fact that due to the reduced weight the Florentines are thrown slightly off balance in my opinion. I play my neck in a raised position and the FLO seem to want to drop the neck down due to the decreased weight and balance of the body.

Perfect in every respect. It's a Gibson!

The Florentine is a great axe. They don't make them any more due to the fact that it was too expensive to manufacture a hollow body LP and maintain a consistent tone quality. If you can find one, BUY IT.

Made in America, 22 frets, bne handle, pretty Oues on cts - the rest is same as a Les Paul Custom two humbuckers.

UTILIZATION

For a Les Paul, the game is very easy with Access in acute still poor compared to many other models from Ibanez, etc..
In contrast to a Les Paul - and thanks to the body dug - it remains trslgre and well equilibrated.
The sound? Hard to beat. A little more bass than standard custom because of the hollow body.

SOUNDS

Perfect for rock, blues, jazz and funk. For the trash, go your way as the pick-ups does not bite the microphone out of the most modern plants DiMarzzio example. So for my style is 100% what I need.
The sound is clean as a Gibson ... but I know of nothing that has the same heat.

OVERALL OPINION

I have in recent years. I love the look, sound and handle Ebne pretty easy to play.
I play the guitar for 15/20 years and I almost tried everything in two DCNI. I must say that Gibson will remain for me BRAND vritables guitar. The Florentine is one of those gems with which they spent years and that does not resell. I was lucky the era to find a used - but CHRE (3,000 EUR). But it is a choice you can never regret.
