This Heritage is fantastic. It plays like a Les Paul, because it kind of is one! The Gibson factory decided to move from Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Nashville, Tennessee, and many of the factory workers did not want to move their whole families a few states away. So they banded together and bought the old facility and equipment and started their own company, Heritage. The designs are dissimilar to Gibson's just enough to avoid lawsuits, and the workmanship is just the same as what Gibson used to have. This guitar, for all intents and purposes, is a Les Paul.

    SOUNDS

This guitar can sound great in literally any style of music: Classic rock, blues, jazz, country, ska, reggae...anything. The bridge pickup is bright, cutting, and aggressive, while the neck pickup is smooth as silk, buttery, creamy, and warm. The controls work just as a Les Paul would, and rolling off the tone makes a great jazz tone on a clean amp setting, or a great Queens of the Stone Age type tone on a distorted preset.

    OVERALL OPINION

This guitar overall is great - I'm rating it a 9 overall. It is the quality of a Les Paul, made by the same makers of older Les Pauls, for much less money. The playability and sounds are top-notch, and the classic styling makes it a winner. This axe would look good on any stage, in any setting, and sound great doing it, too! I highly recommend Heritage guitars for keeping a tradition of building great American guitars, and this particular model is no exception. A real winner in my book.
