«  a real affordable 6 string »

Published on 01/09/11 at 02:27
Value For Money : Excellent
made in Korea,
Gotoh bridge and mechanical type, golden acastillage
maple body with transparent varnish.
neck-through 5-ply maple, 24 frets, rosewood key, 2 trusroad, 54 mm at nut, 75 mm at the 12th fret.
2 soap bar pickups and electronics type Hohner active with volume of general preamp with a Phillips screw on the back of the body: hiding hole on the plate for the electronic editing.
3 knobs: volume micro severe acute microphone volume and tone knob double bass and treble switch + a passive / active with a LED (lit in active mode)

UTILIZATION

The handle is very nice, it One of the first 6 strings that do not require hands of 40 cm to play and he is fine and fairly flat and definitely not too wide.
The availability of treble is exceptional.
The bass is fairly well balanced and light enough so little tiring for the back.
The settings are simple and there are "sound" instantly.

SOUNDS

Once the volume of the preamp set (factory setting too low),
passive mode: bof: Thinner to be used only when the backup battery is hs.
(Replacement is not very easy since we must remove the 6 screws on the back to change the battery clipped into the trapping devoted to electronics)
But asset: his big big: huge bass (but well defined) and acute "chatter" with lots of harmonics.
Comprehensive range of sound: slap, tapping, funk, jazz rock and even a bit by cutting the treble very versatile.
Only small problem: it buzz a little: this is not a problem on stage or in repeated but in the studio, sound engineers noticed.

OVERALL OPINION

Purchased new 4700 francs in 1996 (720 €) is one of the first 6 strings extremely well finished (for Korean) and affordable. (At the time few models and it took at least twice) and playable even for small hands.
Fan d'Alain Caron, but can not afford to pay me an F, I made défretter in 1998: its wonderful, very warm with great sustain with the neck through.
10 years later, flush to the violin (the handles never moved) on the other hand electronics started messing around a bit (cracks, cuts, loosening the jack and potentiometers and buzz increasingly present.
So I turned and handed over all good pickups (passive): its always so beautiful and more of a problem cell or buzz.
Value for money excellent at the time, and even today a good 6-string less than 1000 €, it does not grow on trees
