this is a made in Ardèche!
made entirely by mathieu valley with the exception of microphones made in partnership with Benedetti.
the handle is made of 3 parts of beautiful flamed maple with 24 frets touch the same wood and rectangular frames made in a dark wood (looks like rosewood ...).
the pickups are double windings benedetti / combe style nordstrand dual coils signature except that the wooden covers are gorgeous!
for electronics, a master volume, a balancing of microphones, bass mid and treble, and 2 switches 2 positions, a switch that makes the cut-and another one that changes the frequency of mediums (I think ...); aguilar at home.

UTILIZATION

the neck is rather thin and rather flat key.
I thought the bass was balanced, I have not had any unpleasant impressions when I played.
I could not access the acute pain and was pleasing to play.
the sound was good, there is a substantial reserve of power in this low!

SOUNDS

personally, it's not a bass to play rock, hard rock or blues, it does not have this particular grain and precise for these styles of music, therefore, to answer the question rightly; it does not match my current style of music that is rock.
in fact, we get a sound "smooth", "aspetisé" without much "grain" and is a bass that plays well in the context of "jazz-rock", whether with or without mediums mediums , here plays in precise treble to execute solos in this style of music I already have tried in the same store a Vigier Excess 4 string with natural micro Benedetti, finding always the same, the sound is "smooth" without too much grain at the edge of the impersonal ... to love ..
for the slap, no need to force; balance in the middle, bass and treble well pronounced and BOOM!
Besides, I thought the rope was even too serious IF pronounced compared to the other, so an imbalance in the level of the strings to settle ...
I played in a mesa-boogie M6 carbine, well, it's even too late that extra power, but I would have liked to test the whole group to see how the sound is clear.

OVERALL OPINION

I did not test that part of the afternoon and I still shared ...
I did not buy, but every time I tried bass mathieu, I was happy (Enora, Enora single cut, every 2 to 5 strings).
for the models I've tested, y'en too! look at my test bench and you will understand!
what I love most, the beauty of the wood used, the head combe signed, key in curly maple with rectangular frames, wooden hide microphones, power sounds.
what I like least, the sound impersonal, somewhat "smooth" for my taste, having to make it of course!
I think the price / quality ratio is excellent malgrés the € 2,400 required!
for an instrument of such beautée and directed by a luthier, it's not even too expensive ...
and then, Mathieu is a very nice on the phone and it will satisfy your lubbies and you build your custom instrument, so do not deprive yourself!
