This small device, an aesthetic extremely modern for its time of occurrence, is a wonderful prémpli that I bought used in 1993. I use it every day. And I have met with no failures!

UTILIZATION

The Quad 33 is equipped with tone controls otognales very funny and well studied (although not in use most of the time!)

Operation is very simple.

SOUND QUALITY

On my installation, it is followed by a Quad 405.

What I think best characterizes the Quad 33 is his rectitude, honesty. The bass is firm. The stamps are just right.

OVERALL OPINION

I tried two preamps: a Sansui (an integrated amplifier at 555 A, part of which was pre-amp disconnect and use separately) and a preamp Elipson (very rare machine, with its rough and tiring (not for notes; sounds were cut with a knife) and of questionable reliability, the sound was so bad that it ended with bulky I close the parenthesis)

If there was one criticism to make on the Quad 33, this would be the use of DIN taken: it forces them to make connections to the RCA. A shame.

I would do the same choice.

Seen and listened to maintenance test. This box of matches s call'd a preamp and yes but all the hardware QUAD is done for music in the best possible conditions. This small cache is not surprising that a circuit simplicity and efficiency. it works in class A for the topology of the circuit. the modular plug-in cards by small vertical allows easy maintenance. The phono stage curiously named "DISC" is a gem of ingenuity in fact a card located al rear of the preamp can be dismantled and depending on the side of the card on which are mounted a few passive components we choose the characteristic of the cell phonolectrice!
