« Very good stuff! »
Published on 09/22/14 at 04:51Desert Dust, guitar brand of French manufacture (designed to Pau), run by three enthusiasts. It is in their "small" workshop that I've tested several of their models. I would focus my mind on it that caught my attention the most, the Dinah Mojo "rusty copper", which is now in my possession.
The handle is of type Stratocaster US 22 frets, mounted on a body of European ash. Mechanical oil bath keep in tune, and tailpiece Wilkinson is good. I can assure you that it vibrates when it is played !! And the sustain is present.
The pickguard is lined with three single-coil pickups from home CreI (handcrafted in Pau too). And there, it's happiness. Beautiful harmonic overtones, a high output level, it's hot, it's round and sometimes creamy ... I rediscovered the pleasure of playing on Strat!
It has a 50/60 switch (explained below), a 5-way switch, volume and tone push / pull.
UTILIZATION
The handle is a classic Strat US very pleasant and well balanced, although the action is a bit far from where my 9/10.
The body is shaped like a Jazzmaster smaller, and is dug under the pickguard for all lightened, weighing about 3kg !! Thus relatively light.
Body shape allows easy access to acute. Holding agreement is very good.
SOUNDS
This is where really the highlight of this guitar.
Three microphones CreI makes clicking sound, creamy and round your next game and the position of the selectors.
A switch allows you to switch sounds a Strat 50s to more powerful 60/70 sounds. Hence the name of the 50/60 switch.
The volume knob is a classic, while the tone has a push / pull. But why?
This allows you to add / remove the pickup, which gives a creamier sound. If there are good, it's no less than 14 options of sounds on this guitar!
In his clear, microphones give the slamming and the typical crystal of Strats.
With distortion (I use a Lovepedal Les Lius), harmonics are heard.
OVERALL OPINION
I have a short time, but I'm thrilled. I agrémenterais this review after some playing time (concerts, rehearsals ...) to better define its characteristics.
For now, I do not regret my purchase, and we will see how it changes over time.
