The overall feel of the Eastwood Guitars Sidejack DLX is outstanding, as the action on the one that I played was incredibly low and very easy to play. Playing up and down the neck isn't an issue, as it in general an easy guitar to play. The guitar is definitely on the smaller side because of the small body, and is pretty light because of this. In my time using the guitar I've found it very easy to get a full bodied sound with a lot of character.

UTILIZATION

This guitar is probably most often used for rock and alternative music, as it definitely has the Kurt Cobain connotation attached to it. I've used the Eastwood Guitars Sidejack DLX for recording with a '76 Fender Twin Reverb and a variety of pedals including an Ibanez Tube Screamer overdrive, a Boss CS-3 compressor, and a Line 6 DL-4. Even when used without any pedals or effects, the sound I got was instantly impressive both as a lead and rhythm guitar. I would say that I like it best as a rhythm guitar because is really sounds full bodied when you play barr and power chords, but it is suitable for any type of use.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall, I'm definitely an advocate for this guitar. As any guitar player knows, Eastwood has an incredible line of guitars, and this Sidejack DLX is just another flavor that they have to offer. I don't believe that there are too many Fender Mustang Reissue '69's out there since I believe that they were only made for a short while. I don't know how well this matches up to the other Eastwood’s either since I haven't tried them. I would imagine that the price of this is somewhere in the middle, but it probably varies since it isn't the most readily available. If you're into Eastwoods and come across one of these, I'd definitely encourage you to do a double take.

The Eastwood Guitars Mosrite is a remake of the classic 1960's electric guitar made famous by the band The Ventures. I'm not sure where these guitars are made, but I think it's safe to assume it's not in the US of A. The guitar is made out of a variety of materials, including rosewood for the fingerboard, solid basswood for the body, and maple for the neck. It's got two vintage E-90 pickups and also goes under the name "Sidejack DLX."

UTILIZATION

The action on the Eastwood Guitars Mosrite is quite low, making it an easy guitar to play, especially for rhythm guitar parts. Of course this is all about personal preference and often varies from guitar to guitar, but my experience playing this guitar was all good. It's easy enough to control your tone with the three way pick up selector and single knobs for volume and tone. It's definitely got it's own sound, so if it's one you like I'd say it's easy to achieve it.

SOUNDS

I definitely like the sound of the Eastwood Guitars Mosrite, but it's one that it's own for sure. I'd best describe it as cutting and sharp. I wouldn't use it if I only had a single guitar to play both rhythm and lead parts, as I think it's best suited for tight rhythm guitar parts. You can't get too wide a variety of sounds, but there is some room to play with between the two pick ups. I haven't played the guitar in years, but when I did it was through my friend's Roland Jazz Chorus amplifier.

OVERALL OPINION

The Eastwood Guitars Mosrite is definitely one of the coolest looking guitars I've got experience with, and to go along with it it plays easy and sounds cool as well. For me it's best suited as a complimentary guitar rather than your main ax. I don't know if anyone else is making these guitars anymore, but it's definitely easier to get this one rather than an original vintage. Having played an original Mosrite, this is pretty comparable but it's not quite the same as the original. This being said, the Eastwood Guitars Mosrite model is a very cool and stylish guitar at a pretty reasonable price.

I was looking for a guitar with: P90 pickups, tremolo, easy access to the upper frets, few knobs(I don't like 4-knob quitars).

I had planned to buy a Jazzmaster Classic Series but it was too expensive for me, especially considering I already own a high-quality guitar. But then I found this guitar at half the price of the Fender,

I tested it and bought it on the spot!

I removed the pickguard to see the electronics quality... and it's a Chinese product!

UTILIZATION

Very pleasant neck. The varnish doesn't slow down the hand.

Perfect access to the upper frets.

The guitar is rather light but a bit bulky compared to my Telecaster (although it's not really a problem, even for a small person like me).

The volume knob is ok, the tone knob doesn't really change the sound but that's not a problem for me because I never use it .

I had a very pleasant surprise: the guitar stays in tune even if I abuse the vibrato. Great!

The guitar needed to be adjusted but that's normal considering the price.

SOUNDS

The guitar has P90 pickups.

I'm not used to these pickups but I wanted them.

And I'm not disappointed because they sound really nice.

You'll surely find better ones, just consider the price of the guitar and the fact that it's made in China.

But I'm happy with them and I will upgrade them later if necessary.

Average pickups, I give them an 8.

The neck pickup and the center position sound good, the sound quality of the bridge pickup is a bit lower.

The neck and center positions provide a round, clean sound. The center position sounds very sharp when crunched.

The distortion sound is precise and it rocks.

The output volume decreases a bit in the center position.

OVERALL OPINION

Considering the look (mine is black), the finish, the price, the possibilities provided by the pickups, the tremolo and the playing comfort, I like this guitar and I don't regret having bought it.

It's not a renowned nor a high-end guitar but it's a great deal compared with plenty of guitars I've tested in this price range.

I might upgrade the cheap electronics and the pickups...

I really like... its looks!
