Epiphone Xtreme G-400

Guitar manufacturing Korean, 22 frets, Floyd Rose licensed tremolo, one volume knob, two humbuckers Epiphone. Body into three parts (that can be guessed in the varnish) derived from the Gibson SG, and a handle screwed into two parts that looks more like a Les Paul neck, but with a typical gasoline Fender ... Weird for a guitar that is meant to metal!

UTILIZATION

The neck is super fun to play a guitar of this quality, ergonomics is great, easy to play, even if at times the head tends to move forward.

For good sound, do not have any illusions: no change, you have a good beginner guitar that plays at home. In rehearsal, with a powerful amplifier and a drummer who hits hard, it screams, it's dirty to hear.
The violin, however, for it not to be too disgusting for a guitar of this price, and with some modifications (microphones, cords, insulation, electronics, etc.). It can happen to get something correct.

SOUNDS

Given mouth of the guitar, we know that this is not classic! Metal metal and metal! home is not worth thinking about it, the pickups are too imprecise to play death metal. But the location of the bridge pickup is decent and highs are not too present.

OVERALL OPINION

I bought it in 2002, new, 400 euros. I played in various groups and when I went up the volume on my amp (Marshall 100 watt lamps), it was going on feedback ... Feedback beautiful ... those who only stop when we cut the volume of the guitar.
it sounds very original medium. No bass or treble clean. But the overall sound is ok for work at home.
I made several changes on it: add EMG (assets are less sensitive to the violin passive pickups), the addition of springs floyd, very soft home. Graphite insulation to mask interference, even with the EMG is not necessarily the only, way to pull strings to large (lumberjack ... 56-13).

This guitar made me great service, she accompanied me for 5 years. Its small inaccuracies are somewhat become my own. Then I bought a Gibson Les Paul. Nothing to do ...
