Two double and split into two single coils. Double cut, pitch of 635mm, Stoptail bridge and especially: the handle Mc Carty. Warning, this is a special handle that everybody does not like, it's best to try before you buy. But for me, there is no better stick to the point that I can no longer play correctly on other guitars.

UTILIZATION

What makes the excellence of an instrument is that it is the musician who plays it. This guitar is perfect for me, compared to the size of my fingers, my hands and my playing. There certainly are other better guitars but for other musicians who play differently.

Apart from these personal physical criteria, it is a stringed instrument which is impeccable. If you buy used, do all the same attention as any violin as she does not like abuse: humidity, thermal shock etc ... Unfortunately I saw Mc Carty with twisted handles.

SOUNDS

The sound is that I give with my fingers. The electronics are secondary, if you like vintage humbucker sound, the original pickups will please you, although I find them a little slack, they lack bite for my taste. For my part, I always change both pickups.

Since I do not play correctly on other guitars, I have to change the pickups for other sounds output. I usually P90 or uses simple P-mounted rails in which associate Seymour Duncan beautifully with McCarty.

Please note, there are important things to do to mount P-Rails in a Mc Carty changes. The handling is quite difficult and it is better to have it done by a professional.

OVERALL OPINION

I use this guitar for 10 years and I still have many chills when I take it in hand. On a quality tube amp, it is a marvel. I am a professional musician and I play almost every day and sometimes at night too ... I got up to 28 guitars: the Gibsons, the Stratocasters, Telecasters all of very good quality. I've sold out and now I have nothing but Mc Carty with different microphones.

But I repeat: if it is very good for me, it's because his first violin is my outfit, my fingers etc ... There are many other very good guitars.
