« decent sound, great price »

This WSL guitar Barybone is a very good guitar for the price! I sold one of my fav Strats to fund this and it is the best guitar purchase I have ever made! Fit, finish , playability, beauty, unreal! The top is surreal and 3d. Tthe neck is super fast, and action is almost spot on right out of the case. I did alot of research, especially being new to WSL‘s, and this is the one for me, and probably you if you are reading this and looking in this price range.

UTILIZATION

I see a lot of quick references to the coil tap feature, so I will elaborate upon this. I have a lot of misgivings about split coils and 'S' switching systems. The split coil set up on this guitar is the real deal. The differences are subtle and nuanced and every combination of the split coils on this guitar are not simply "useable": they are actually quite good. I simply love this guitar. I have been playing Dire Straits, Carolyn Wonderland, The Jayhawks and Ryan Adams all day long. I am in guitar heaven. I picked mine up in a Guitar Center brick and mortar store. I do not know if they spent any time on the setup. I agree with the good reviews of the Plek system.

SOUNDS

Sounds a very clean and classic. More of a rocker type sound to me though. Jazz didn’t come out very well for me. Also, the skulls on it are a little too much for me. But that’s just with this version. Its more of a custom style.

OVERALL OPINION

One issue that I noticed on all WSL Guitars when I played was that the strings are shifted very slightly to the higher pitched side of the fret board. The result is that the high E is somewhat prone to getting hung up on the edge of the frets, if you do vibrato by pulling down rather than pushing up. If the strings were centered perfectly on the fret board, this would be less likely to happen.
