« Modeling, and finally to the point? " »
Published on 04/30/11 at 03:34100 watts - Celestion G12T-100
Modeling amp such as Fender Champ, Deluxe 57, Bassman, Princeton, Deluxe Reverb and Twin Revert + Vox / Marshall / Mesa ...
Various effects: OD, Fuzz, Wah, Compressor, Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Vibrato, Tremolo, Pitch, Delay, Reverb, etc. ...
LCD + USB Port + Aux + Headset
Effects loop footswitch taken + 4 / 2 buttons
Gain / Volume / Treble / Mid / Bass / Reverb / Master Volume
UTILIZATION
Use of this amp is pretty simple with the different settings and direct the LCD which lack the Mustang I and II.
Everything can be paid directly to the amp Fuse or via software (via USB). While for the Mustang I and II, it is imperative to go through Fuse to change a preset depth.
A regular or not multi-effects find them easily.
For cons, I regret that the settings are not in front rather than on top of the amp. Matter of taste ...
The supplied footswitch allows up or down in the presets or off depending on how it effects the rule. No footswitch, you change presets via the rotary knob.
It is quite possible to disable live effects using the buttons Stomp / Mod / Delay / Reverb.
I love the ability to control his amplifier and programmed via software presets Fender Fuse. With it, you can also import presets from other users via the Internet.
SOUNDS
The most important point: SOUND!
I wanted a Fender sound for a change of the sound of my Hiwatt.
Well, I'm not disappointed
This is the first time I hear a modeling amp that rivals, or surpass some tube amp!
The sounds of Fender amps are modeled ultra realistic. My preference is for the Twin Reverb, which corresponds perfectly to the type of clean sound that I found: Crystalline, clapping, round and with the boot!
It's really very true to the original Twin Reverb. It is unbelievable!
Perhaps the dynamic is slightly lower it?! But it really is that close ...
In any case, the clear sound of the Twin Reverb is truly the road against the clear sound of my Hiwatt. That's mean!
On the saturations, ditto. We well recognize the claw Marshall or Fender Bassman into overdrive.
It's warm, clear and punchy.
I never feel the use of modeling. There are no side "digital" My criticism has any other modeling amp. Line6 in mind ...
Go to quibble perhaps, can we perceive a very slight digital noise at the cutoff compared to sustain an amp that is not modeling. But it's really very light.
Also, I found the sound of the headphone not terrible. But hey, you buy that kind of play that headphone amp ...
For cons, I criticized some of the amps modeled Mustang saturate rather quickly. If your guitar sends the sauce must not fall ill gain.
Regarding the effects, it's really not bad but not exceptional either.
The chorus, flanger and phaser are good. But do not amount to real analog pedals. They are at a good multi-effects. The overdrive and fuzz are of the same caliber. But it's still well above what I heard on other brands of amps modeling.
For cons, the delay, tremolo and reverb are really good. Nothing to envy to the pedals!
It is precise and clear. As for compressors, no problems it provide what is needed.
Especially for me which is very important:
This amp fully respects the sound of guitars and nuances of the game And this is a first on a modeling amp!!
OVERALL OPINION
Having a Hiwatt Custom 50, I wanted a more portable amp with onboard effects and a super clear sound especially when I want to lug heavy artillery ...
I bought this amp for its Swiss Army knife side and the price very attractive. I do not think it was possible to get such quality with a price so content.
The Mustang is light years ahead of other amp modeling. The quantum leap is really impressive compared to the Vox and Line6.
I play more in the register Blues / Rock. Being an avid Pink Floyd, this amp responds perfectly to my expectations.
The clean sounds are really impressive and are almost as saturated.
I am convinced that listening blind, many would be willing to bet it's a tube amp ...
The quality / price of this amp is unbeatable - BUY THE DARK!!
