I've been using my DRUMKAT since 1994,

I upgraded it from 3.5 to 3.8 in 2004 and I changed the FSR sensor (watch out for secondhand gear because it might turn out costlier... the FSR's average durability is about 10 years).
I used it for studio sessions and on stage for different projects and it never let me down.
Manufacturing quality is great and it is sturdy and reliable.

Best of all is the playing comfort, it has a great bounce!
It provides a great dynamic accuracy and the pressure on the pad is detected and assigned to a filter or tuning Midi controller, etc...
The sound module is very comprehensive with 10 pads, 9 aux inputs for pads, pedals or sensors...
One hi-hat controller input,
one breath controller input, 2 MIDI Ins and 4 MIDI Outs...
The module is also a MIDI patch enabling input and output data filtering!
There is not enough space here to describe every function and possibility.
Simply put, it has the same functions as a big MIDI master keyboard...

There is a large users community is the US so you can easily exchange information, programs and downloads.
The manufacturer answers emails and questions very promptly.

The only turn-off would be the programming with the drumstick... But once you're done with that...
It gets a bit tricky when you want to create chords (see the incredible demos on the Alternate Mode site) but what a performance!!!

I already played Simmons, Roland, ddrum... the DRUMKAT is the Rolls Royce in every respect! The MIDI controls are the best on the market.
It is frequently upgraded and always reliable...

The price is not too high considering the possibilities!

I wouldn't choose it again because I don't need all its functions to trigger my sound generators.
Its younger brother would be enough for me. But I would buy a KAT again because there's nothing better!

For someone who plays exclusively via MIDI... it's THE drum machine!
