Installation is in graphical mode so no difficulties.
No problem of incompatibility made by the wifi (solved with the ndiswrapper utility suite).
The configuration is not too complex for the beginner user, but it can be pushed to Confirms users.
ADQUATION / PERFORMANCE
I'm running Fedora (currently version 8) on a portable mount (so no mark): 2x2 Ghz Intel Core Duo and 2GB RAM.
The OS works, some crashes with the touchpad time to time (solution: use a mouse) and WiFi is not super stable (Linux black point).
Except it's a very stable.
Loading is a little long to boot the OS but reveals very quickly thereafter.
NOTICE GLOBAL
I use it for a little over a year now.
I tried many distributions, Fedora remains my prefers.
If you are beginner, however, I suggest you to refer you to a simpler distribution like Ubuntu. That said, if you are ready to put their hands in a little bit dirty, Fedora turns very strong and stable as long as we know a little bit Linux.
Update: Since version 10, Stability of problems are recurring ...
By consquent I pass Debian. More complex, but it is no longer stable and fast
