Organ from Yamaha belonging to the Electone series

C'est moi ! C'est moi !

Value For Money : Poor

Two keyboard organ type very flexible but not velocity sensitive to the meaning or the sound volume is controlled essentially not a volume pedal General. However sensitive to the speed, the velocity which produces a change in the tone of the sound. Each keyboard has 49 keys. And there's also a bass pedal for the left foot with 20 notes. And a collapsible handle that allows délcencher some effects with the right knee.

Midi out and in connectors and a stereo audio output to connect to an external amp leslie type example, and finally a stereo audio input for connecting such an external drum machine via midi and enjoy the sounds of the amp instrument. By the way this amp is 55 watts internal which seems sufficient for home use but maybe a bit tight for a concert but who cares since there are stereo audio outputs ... The set also has a midi sequencer via antique floppy 3'5. Mine still works, but there is also a fairly complicated to change the famous floppy drive. That said if mine goes down, no interest there will be enough to plug the midi output to the midi input from my laptop to get a free sequencer otherwise efficient ... Having said that these disks are proving quite handy to use a USB key but today would be more appropriate ... But we are still in the 90s with this kind of instruments! But yes!

Otherwise polyphony level is also the potential circuits that betrayed a little time to find 23 votes polyphonic on upper and lower keyboards, 7 votes for solo voice and keyboard than 6 votes for bass pedals. This can seem a bit feeble but for the purpose for the moment I do not feel the limits of the system even with fairly complex pieces. In terms of effects: reverb-General on all sounds, if possible setting for each part of the tremolo, chorus and organ flutes also more or less click, low etc. ...

The beast weighs 53 kilos but dismantled into several parts. Altogether complicated to move but weight level once removed, no heavier than my Promega 3 which I think weighed in 23 pounds but is nothing to dismantle ... ... gloups

8 for caractérisitques that seem a bit dated but good too ... Yamaha FM synthesis AWM & Sauce 90 ...

UTILIZATION

I knew nothing at all but the whole organ is logically organized and can have fun right away while slowly discovering the deeper logic of things. However, the manual seems mandatory. Mine I found on the internet because the previous owner had lost and the original disks that included a number of style and setting of Registration (roughly the small orchestra that we can have under your fingers and feet ...). But we can also do without it since has 5 Registration Memory, that is to say from personal régalges that can be saved on disk or external sequencer. Factory preset and 5 memories.

The manual is in French and perfectly clear with illustrative examples and screenshots that leaves no doubt about the different possible functions.

The editing and sound possible, but very limited because it is not made for that. It is especially organ flutes that can act on components of the sounds of bass to treble. But no more.

I also like the cover rabbat that serves giant desk partitions, very convenient!

10 for simplicity despite complexity of the possibilities we arrive fast enough to go around.

SOUNDS

Sounds? then we enter the subjective ... Say that everything is realistic imitation instrument seems dated and basically a lot like the ones I can find on my old Yamaha YS200 FM synth 4opérateurs dating from the years 90, 1991 to be precise. So there is water that has flowed under the bridge since then ... But I have not bought this instrument used for this but especially to the sounds of organs and organ interface.

In terms of drum sounds, not bad, it seems that it is almost identical to what you can find on a drum machine Roland / BOSS DR660, and I have also bought second hand . There is good fishing. It may also be his personal drum track from the different sounds by playing percussion on a keyboard after turning the appropriate function.

Finally the basics: organ sounds! Again this is subjective. I would say that as usual it's the same problem on the Promega 3 and above: it lacks bass. Less than organs from Promega, given in pure bonus, because it is first to play the piano it is designed. Here it is supposed to be the heart of the beast, normal for an organ! Despite this critical lack of bass is less obvious but is there anyway for me, it does not feel such intense vibrations throughout the body. Not bad but there is a slight gap. The classic organs are pleasant with power and a certain majesty. The Hammond organ jazz type are not bad even if only for a purist Hammond can do it! there are also settings theater organs but I like less personal. Anyway with the Organ Flutes can also modify sounds pretty plant.

So here I appreciate very much the organ, the piano sounds good then it's clear I prefer Promega, and everything is nice but a bit dated 90 years as I mentioned above.

No aftertouch, but a velocity sensitive keyboard, nevertheless effective non-adjustable factory and no adjustments as the Promega sensitivity of the keyboard. Separate volume control for the various registers and controls the overall volume by the volume pedal and a button controlling the maximum volume of the instrument. The leaflet advised not to exceed two thirds of the volume but the same, pushing the amp, 55watts much cash, it is designed for! The volume pedal itself has two switches on the sides, there must play the right foot! it can trigger changes in records or the drum machine among other things. Enough to support a piece with a few possibilities.

Finally joystick to trigger some effect on his right knee including accompanying solo or not very practical to vary things a bit like film music or for example a chorus etc. ...

The final mark takes into account the expressiveness but can not yet do without the side a bit dated in some sounds unrealistic despite their laudable efforts for the time ...

OVERALL OPINION

4 weeks of music!

I tried the organ there for fifteen years but prices are too high for me despite a strong desire ...

I like the fact that it is an organ with two manuals and pedal bass, and I appreciate the comfortable desk.

With experience I will ever be this choice because for 290 euros was a bargain considering the nearly new condition. However if for the same price I could find an organ with sounds less dated and more options, more upscale, so I let myself do it but do not dream, a seller can not let go for less than 300 euros a tool Premium 10 years old ...

Value for money was very good because the average side on the net monstrous instrument (weight, non-removable wooden shelf) of the 70 is around 100 to 200 euros. Homeowners looking to get rid of and it still works as reluctant considering the weight to throw everything to the dump ... sacrilege for an instrument still in working order or can be repaired by an enthusiast!

Finally contat sad but it seems that the organ market is a bit moribund, no longer sells the Yamaha Electone series in Europe, remains Roland and Clavia, and Hammond. On Audiofanzine little organ-grinder and some opinions on these machines ... This remains a bit like the piano a costly instrument to purchase and electronics as they quickly discount eventually like digital piano, synthesizers unless the instrument brings something unique, a grain of sound that the does little more than technical innovation.
