Made in the USA in Tacoma (Washington State) - Tacoma Guitars is owned by Fender
It is a jumbo cutaway acoustic, made entirely of solid wood
- Sitka spruce
- Back and sides Koa Hawaii
- Handle a single piece of Mahogany
- Ebony fingerboard and bridge
- Tour de rose, head and logo INLAYS Mother of Pearl Abalone
- Nets table edge, back and neck Tortoise Shell
- Mechanical oil bath Gotoh gold
- High gloss and satin for the body to handle
- Comes in a beautiful luxury case.
The finish is very nice with this beautiful golden color of Koa
UTILIZATION
The neck is thin, somewhat C, with a slight radius (curvature of the key), the frets are quite thin and well finished, touch the ebony nice. The left hand is positioned well, but despite the narrow width of the button (44mm at nut), pass over the thumb requires a little effort or a big hand. The academic position is excellent and the game crossed little tiring (it even takes pleasure in playing all crossed!). The access to the latest box is easy with the cutaway. The guitar is light. Ergonomics is a big fat jumbo, so to ban small jigs!
The sound "out alone," the guitar is powerful, the projection and sustain significant long. Despite some nice bass, the sound remains balanced. It also means that it is the guitarist who must make changes in his game, and so highlight the frequency range specific to the song. So it requires a good grip and a little experience.
SOUNDS
I play mostly "fingers", or sometimes with a soft pick (with the sound becomes really hard Maousse!), And the type of music I like, this guitar suits me very well. I set the action low enough so that it can bind agreements without fatigue and the sound comes alone. Consistent with an emphasis on open and open strings, it is superb. For the picking, I'm more reserved, it is possible, but if there is not enough for the game, it sounds a little cold. It goes much better with arpeggios. In fact, it was mounted original D'Addario EXP, but I found the sound a bit "dull" and now I ride D'Addario EJ26 Phosphor Bronze Custom Light 011-052.
OVERALL OPINION
I bought this guitar in 01/2007 and then I had paid € 1,750, which seems right given the quality of wood used. I was looking for a jumbo quite specifically because the shape I liked and I knew that these instruments are generally strong. It is difficult to try jumbo quality at a price "reasonable" (between 1000 and 2000 €). There is the Taylor 315 or 415, but only on command, then to try ... There is also Takamine, the Chinese Guild, Cort and others but to find models jumbos, must hang! Then one day, by chance, the Tacoma, and I liked it immediately, so it's perfect. I would do without hesitation this purchase because this guitar is beautiful, the Koa wood is a rare and beautiful, it sounds really good and besides, it really helped me advance my game Banco!
