Cheap, long lasting, will be with a beginner through the years
Published on 11/04/11 at 12:57I must say that I was super surprised when after 4 years of steady beating with no regard for care, this cymbal was still working as good if not better than day 1. I am a big fan of expensive, hand made cymbals too, don’t get me wrong. But once and a while there comes along a truly odd combination of cheap quality, great sound, strong metal, and great production, to make a product that outperforms its designated field. The Zildjin ZXT Trashformer Cymbal is that.

The things I like about this cymbal is that it doesn’t necessary have a sound or pitch that deems it strictly “for metal”, or “for jazz” like so many of the modern cymbals of today. I like that this cymbal takes time to grow on you, it doesn’t sit well at first for this exact reason. For the time passes, you tend to realize you are writing drum parts around the cymbal, this is something to take notice to. It makes for an awesome accent to any piece, and this guy can sound brash when the band is slow or sluggish in a performance, or extremely powerful and deep all the same. It’s this type cheap yet useful, multipurpose cymbal that every beginner drummer should own, and hold on to until it falls apart. I will with mine.
There is really nothing that can be said bad about this cymbal. That is to say, the brand on it might make other drummers laugh, but come on. Drum snobs aside, This cymbal is the best bang for your buck if you really want to take drumming seriously. I see no reason to hold back on the purchase of this cymbal, it is cheap, it can be with you for years to come, and offer a very surprising and fresh sound for a beginner or a master alike.
