Overdrive pedal with the reduced price is inversely proportional to its overall quality.
Metal case MXR format. Champagne-colored finish very granular class.
Inserts jacks in and out of metal.
Stompswitch a pleasant enough to walk.
Three Tone knobs, Level Drive with good handling strength.
A red LED.
A DC power jack 9-volt.
Like all pedals of this type, unscrew the four screws at the base for a battery change. (Provided the original).
The whole breathes an air of strength and thoughtful overall design.
UTILIZATION
Configutation usual for this kind of pedal. Works with a standard power supply.
The switch is true bypass. That is, the sound is totally derived from the pedal when not in use. To verify this, it's simple, just remove the battery or power supply and you constaez the sound still goes off position, awesome, no alteration of the signal.
Its small size makes it easy to integer in a pedal board.
SOUND QUALITY
There was no notice on the net about this model that replaces the OVD 302. Found in stores to try, I decided to order it for the modest sum of 34 euros (including postage). Then we'll see.
At the reception (after two days, internet magic ...) comes the beautiful in a black cardboard box very nice, brace yourself with a magnetic flap closure, if you know what I mean. (Cartons Boss and Ibanez Rabiller can go to ...)
I branch.
First of all I must say that I have owned and I have a lot of overdrive pedals, so I benchmarks.
This one, great. An overdrive sound very good. Around the same spirit that TS, in much more transparent to those interested. A very good effect that works wonders on a tube amp, very gradual, almost nothing to a little more. For 34 euros, I told myself, there's really nothing to be disappointed. I play a little ... very well.
And then the first flat: to have a normal sound, not too sharp, you have to lower the tone completely knob or left in the first quarter of the race. Okay (no word play) j'me said that because the sound is awesome like that.
And then the second flat, I realize that even with the maximum level, the volume is not enough for a lead sound. Argg ... two flats.
To compare, I pulled out immediately and then my Ibanez TS10, I plugged both in alternation.
Immediately I found that the TS 10 was much more distinctive, with most mediums but also less transparent. For the drive, the TS 10 goes a step further. The tone control is also totally dispute and that for the TS, I rule usually two hours.
Finally the volume: the Belcat fully corresponds to the volume TS10 noon. It gives you an idea of the margin. For my part I use the TS 10 with level two hours to have a sufficient level of lead. So problem.
I then tried the pedal live on two amps disputes, a Fender Blues Deluxe and a Mesa Boogie Mark I. The sound is actually very good, it looks like a channel amp that crunch, which is very popular even for some ultimate.
But the volume is not enough for me to go over the orchestra lead.
I use a real clean sound for rhythm at a very reasonable amount and I rely on my pedals to make me a powerful lead sound is like that, it's a school.
on the other hand if your style is: crunch sound on the amp or big clear sound basic setting on the guitar volume pot and a boost pedal, this one is definitely for you and be super efficient in my opinion. It's another school. Although SRV style but also very good for its slightly country rock crunch to Brad Paisley. It's not bad ... I tell you!
Besides yours, that's how I will use it in my opinion, in light with the micro drive in my telecaster bridge for a big sound to country rock décoiffer cowgirls. (Big macho goes!)
OVERALL OPINION
How do they provide a pedal as good at this price. I'd rather not ask me ...
Super pedal. Incredible value for money. Perfect for blues, country-rock or the rhythmic crunch. True bypass. Transparent.
In my opinion much better than the previous 302 OVD manufacturing issue.
But insufficient volume to lead me. Too bad ... was almost the Holy Grail!
