Analog pedal, true bypass, connectors minimalist: a jack in, jack out, a plug for power type boss (also works with a 9V battery). All in a small sardine nice looking (or not according to taste)!

The pedal is supposed to emulate the behavior of a tube amp pushed to max but have not had the opportunity to have an amp with a grinder lamp, I do not really have a point of comparison.

UTILIZATION

The usage is really simple, insofar as the pedal is equipped with a single footswitch, two knobs to adjust the gain and volume, and a three-position mini switch to change the color of the sound.

The first position, Pimento, tightens the sound and accentuates the midrange, where positions "Lime" and "Fat melon" respectively will boost the bass and treble.

Leaflet provided gives us the usual information and some examples of settings, but does not prove all essential.

SOUND QUALITY

I use my Pimento with a 52 Telecaster and a small Vox AC4C1. This is a very nice amp that delivers clear sound pretty typical but do not go very far in terms of saturation, and I wanted to give him a boost with an OD pedal.

I hesitated between a Fulltone OCD V4 appeared to be a safe bet and Pimento intrigued me (yes, I know, do not look ...). In the end, not having the opportunity to test both long, I fell for OCD, which I find really great.

Then I could afford the Pimento, which is my second overdrive pedal. The difference between the two is obvious, each has its own character (well tempered).

For comparison, the OCD provides a more transparent sound, with a more open grain and a more aggressive sound "sharp". The Pimento at first use, gives the impression that the sound is less fleshy. The lack of tone knob then seems to be lacking.

Then using longer, I realized that the pedal had this side "less is more" that I like: Once selected based position of the guitar and the amp ("Fat melon" for I) the adjusted volume level, it only remains to adjust the drive for convenience.

Gain limit is relatively complex, but it remains a pedal "low gain" that shines especially in the first half of the drive in my opinion. At 10 am, the sound becomes fuller, great for rhythm in an intermediate position, and between 10 and 12 we get a little something extra that comes really embellish notes played solo on the neck pickup, perfect for blues (and Jazz also even though I do not pretend to play!).

So far, I liked playing with the guitar plugged directly into the amp, and I wanted to try to add a little overdrive there for me to let go a little more without being obliged to have problems with neighbors (the vox needs to be pushed a bit to roar ...). Since I am Pimento, I use consistently and is engaged almost all the time, sometimes with a minimum level of drive that was just the warm clean amp.

OVERALL OPINION

I used intensely for a month, and as I stated above this is my second overdrive. I do not have a great experience with the effects, but I do not think the Pimento exchange for another overdrive as I appreciate donation made.

Sometimes I think it's a bit of a luxury to keep both OD and the OCD would do nicely alone but nothing to do, when I clicks the Pimento I can not do without.

What I like most is this really interesting color it brings to its base, which can be very subtle in the early drive. I'm a little less fan drive cranked, but it's mostly because I really found my "sweet spot"!

Finally, the absence of "Tone" may put off some, especially when you have to manage the interactions between multiple pedals, but if it is only used with a guitar and an amp, keeping in mind that it is not not a pedal to play death metal, I think you can hardly be disappointed! If I had the choice again, it would be no problem!

SOUND QUALITY

Really nice effect, the magic sound without fireworks! position and fat melon pimento! to slap me! lime is good but it is not my favorite position! the character of the instrument is respected boost or overdrive the higher you go the more drive this pedal is good wake bursts of nostalgia! rather it is for blues rock and rock, a slap that stuff for me!

OVERALL OPINION

I've since Wednesday evening beginning its marketing! must try the next one like it or not! but if we love the attention, it's addictive this stuff! and then the price, I've tried indeed more expensive and frankly less so I'm super happy day, is the longevity we'll see it al looks solid! French super good product and for a time!!!!
