Jacques Stompboxes The Sleep TalkerPublished on 04/26/10 at 20:52
This is a pretty solid overdrive pedal. This pedal is all analog technology, so there's not any capability for MIDI control. Nor is there any way to edit this device with a computer. This device is not rackable. There are two 1/4" connections (input and output).

    UTILIZATION

The effects editing with this pedal is pretty simple for the most part. I would say that a manual probably isn't necessary. There are only a couple of knobs on this guy, one for gain and one for volume, plus the actual footswitch. Getting a good sound out of this pedal is pretty simple. The only issue is the design, for some reason I feel as though I'm playing with fire in terms of stepping on the knobs. This co…

    SOUND QUALITY

I used this with my Strat and I loved it. I ran it through a Fender Twin Reverb, which is usually my favorite combination when only needing overdrive. I was really intrigued by this pedal. It's actually a bit intense for an overdrive, which I wouldn't really like if it weren't for one really interesting feature. The pedal responds tremendously to the volume that you put into it. This means that if you just want to get a good lead tone and rhythm tone, it could likely be as simple as turning the volume knob down for rhythm sounds and max it out for leads. Or you could simply control the tone entirely with dynamics. This is possible to an extent with a lot of pedals but not really to the drastic levels on display here. The tone in general ranges from a somewhat mild overdrive to a light distortion, and the tones between all tend to sound good.

    OVERALL OPINION

If you want to to intensify your already dynamic playing. Once you reach a certain level as a player, you start to wish you could always rely on your own dynamics to amplify your sound and increase the gain. This is possible to an extent with a nice tube amp cranked all the way. This sort of allows you the same freedom, with less volume and more crunch. It's a really cool pedal, not for everybody though.
