This pedal can be considered as a preamp or overdrive.
The technology is based on pure analog circuitry though numérique.C is indeed like the Black Dog or the Tweed E Dog (only a few corrections to differentiate stamps) a copy of the old MXR Hot Tube Distortion based on circuit theory for the inversion of digital signals (CD4049) preceded by RC4558.

UTILIZATION

Gain of a button, another volume, the last for a dial tone (passive and very progressive). Some subtleties: the tone can be bypassed for a sound without correction: probably used with microphones simple, but with double bass are a little too far forward in my tone gout.Pour me so it turned on. SOUND QUALITY

In terms of effectiveness Sound:
The manufacturer says that this pedal is supposed to emulate a little amp with 6V6 tubes pushed donf PP, which is exactly what it does!
The sound is just cradingue what it takes to make you cry or scream spit good mics, it's a real treat.
With the mini gain, or very low, the sound clear or slightly dirty (must be my favorite way to make use of the pedal) it seems to have a new amp.
With a little more gain (say around noon) it starts to cruncher, and one can return to a clear sound by reducing its volume by a few degrees: a pleasure.
Around 3 o'clock, we entered the world of overdrive, but a slight rotation of the volume knob is used to return to a clear or almost, is the class.
Beyond three hours, a breath on my foot starts to be heard, it is thoroughly insupportable.Je think this is due to the CD4049, circuit quite variable in characteristics, consumption, breath, I think the change, but be warned that unless a circuit support home on the stage, it is not accessible to the non-electronics.
At all levels of gain and tone controls, and despite the strong coloration made the grain of the guitar and the intricacies of the game are respected (magnified in fact) always with a great tenderness.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for several months.
I love everything about this pedal, with the exception of the breath.
I've played on tons of models before: MXR distortion +, Fuzz Face, Rat, YouDirtyRat, MXR Dime, several pedals "house" derived from the Fuzz Face and MXR, and tried several pedals that I was not more : SD1, DS1, TS9 etc (sorry Mr. Boss, none of your distos not convinced me) etc.

However, I suspect it is no longer in the catalog (no more than the Black Dog Tweed or elsewhere)
I would do well on this choice without hesitation, it became my "maid of all work", even in a PA amp it manages to give me sound crazy.
