I like the principle of "broadband" or the "coax" it means having a chamber, the spectrum is restored in the same axis.

SOUNDS

These speakers are relatively neutral with can be a peak in the high-medium / high but
desagreable.Elles not have the trs hot, not like most monitor speakers
prcises but cold! (Genelec or in the same genre)
The stereo image is excellent, the reverbs are ultra prcises, the effect of depth and focus of the instrument is simply perfect! Plugs into an amp worthy of the name, these speakers are both "Audiophile" that in monitoring.J 'I also tried it on an amp tube.GENIAL!

I must say that is a great brand tannoy speaker audiophiles and they have know-how

The dynamics are excellent but the problem is that they are quite small and therefore, gently lower! The events spit! Moreover, the bowl is decentered relative ease, it's their big black dot. They have good bass, but, be careful not to push too hard if the music you give them is the drum'n'bass!
I have not tried but I think the ideal would be to make them work with a sub, just to relieve them and to have more serious.
The advantage of a small bowl is that it is lgre, and gives you great transitional

OVERALL OPINION

I use them for three years, and all that does is mix with these speakers sound!
and, whatever the style of music! This is proof of a good listener trs.
Value for money: very good.
Big flaw: a little fragile! The bowl is suffering from low excs.
It is better left to lose in the low level, put the foam closure of the winds, to avoid the imposition of the bowl trips destructive.
I already listen to the same, but amplified, ca does not sound as well, Ms. Carrie is less! (Another story amp!)
What I want is that Mr. Tannoy sell their bowls without the cash, just to make a self-same, slightly larger for more bass.

Bandwidth seems linear above 70 / 80Hz, below it remains a little lighter. However, the balance above these frequencies is amazing, they are quite flattering but up to hide the flaws of a poorly balanced mix. Punchy without being tiring even after several hours at high volume, they have more total respect for transitional and integration of the tweeter in the center of the woofer reduces phase problems, frequent proximity with the monitors. Attention to the bass, which can cause very violent displacement of the membranes, moves that can be minimized by placing the foam in bass-reflex vents to reduce the volume of displaced air within the enclosure ( probably a little narrow, a few additional dm3 probably would not have been too ...), or by compressing or limiting the bass systematically to avoid destructive attacks of transient powerful instruments in the lower spectrum ( bass, bass guitar, kick drum ...)
Additional returns would not have been superfluous in the bass for these Tannoy have a perfect balance. Please do not force levels in these low frequencies, not end up with serious imbedded on other plays (hi-fi, radio ...) and therefore have a mix unbalanced with an excess low. The stereo image is good, even very good, the credit may be partly attributable to the transducers, coaxial to find unambiguously the precise positioning of instruments in the mix.

OVERALL OPINION

I bought new some ten years, she never gave the slightest sign of weakness despite some excesses that could be fatal. I listened to models from other brands, but in this price range, and sometimes even face a higher price speakers, the Tannoy took away my votes, more perhaps by the charm that they exude by their objective characteristics.
The production is neat while remaining sober, the box is rigid and shows no disturbing vibration even at high volume, the exterior finish is solid and has no problems with the passing years ... The slightly rough does not make too much maintenance, a bit of a blow from time to time is preferable to wipe over to remove the dust that inevitably accumulates, but a very moderate maintenance can keep their freshness first day ...
For aesthetics, it is a matter of taste and I must say I like them well from this point of view. Besides, I'm wondering whether I will not one day acquire a second pair for integration in addition to a hi-fi listening, or even primary listening, as their sound color can enhance the details a mix.
Most: the overall balance, transparency, accuracy, the overall sound, build quality, price.
The -: the bass a little behind, the sensitivity of the membrane at low frequencies (loose motions at high volume if you are not careful)
With the experience I would do without this choice problem for the same budget or I would listen to their big sister (system 800) ...
