Purchase a Travel Mate 242 LC on 15/12/2003 at Darty: price € 1199

Situation to date: unusable after only 20 months of use
Diagnosis made by DARTY: motherboard change: cost € 430!

price of a portable new: € 999 and even more potential.

I'm very disappointed with ACER! the toshiba my son works better and for longer!

if anyone can give me a tip for: buy a motherboard-hand and / or find a cheaper repair, I'm bucket!

Are there other cases of motherboards "hs as fast" on this model?

Acer is unfortunately sometimes credited with this problem on his laptop ... Their board is a bit weak in their general with their customer service (désolé. ..)!
But it is also matter of luck ...
I have an Acer now for just over 2 years with heavy use, and never had to return the pc. (I replaced the hard drive myself, which I dropped, but he had served)
As for solutions, there are no miracles ... Fact can be qques computer stores, and try to find one that you happen to do that a good price ... Good luck!

For our answer mangomido I have a acer aspire 1525WLI home I bought in September 2005 and February 2006 the first back in the studio with the graphics grid! and now in November, two months after the end of the guarantee again the graphics card and loose change so the motherboard! The big problem is that they no longer manufacture this motherboard and therefore can not rpar me! 1250 up to 2 months is a lot of job to t.
Finally Acer are in the service pro trs APRS sale!
