The unit has an amazing sound. I cant mock that. We play rock/metal and I always wanted an amp that would hold its own without the need for mincey effects pedals. The distorted tone from the amp is just what I needed, chunky and yet smooth. You should hear it when you scoop the mid!
Theres not much I can say bad about this amp (apart from the build quality, but that comes later). I suppose i could bitch about it being a heavy bugger!
Unfortunately, the great sound that it produces is over-shadowed by its lack of build quality. In the two years we have had them, we have returned them 5 times, ranging from transisters blowing (I know we are heavy, but not THAT heavy!?!) to the entire unit just dying on us. Its unfortunate that merely sitting on the amp can cause it to cut out!
Overall, a really nice amp that we have found to be perfect for heavy metal. The clean tone is nice too, and im sure you can experiment to get it to work well with other styles. Unfortunately, the two we bought were of pretty poor build quality. My advice? Test it at HIGH volume in the showroom, and make sure you get extended warranty!!
