The pearl eliminator pedal is one of the fastest single pedals I have ever used. I play stuff like Cradle of Filth and Killswitch Engage with one foot and this pedal makes it that much easier. I play in 3 metal bands who are astounded at my single kick speed with this pedal. I switched to this pedal after playing on a DW 5000 and a Tama Iron Cobra Power Glide, all singles. The pedal is far smoother than the Tama pedal and faster than the DW. I have played on a DW 9000 single kick and I like the Eliminator far better thatn that or the Axis Longboards. I play in jazz band with speed accents, and this pedal is a key asset to my drum set. The different cams give the pedal 4 different feels, ranging from unbelievably fast to the most control you could possibly have.
I use a 22” by 20” kick drum through Gretsch, which is solid maple and has a thundering tone, and an Aquarian Superkick 2 head, and this pedal makes the combination all come together nicely. The only thing I would replace is the beater head, with that of a Tama Iron Cobra beater, which gives it that much deeper of a sound. With that mixture you can get the best of all the kick pedals at your foot.
The only complaint with this pedal is that it gives you so many options that it is hard to choose which of the cams you want to use, and what settings are best for your style of music. I have been using this pedal for about a year, and it is the best. The pedal is far worth the price, being as smooth and fast as it is. Knowing what I know now, I would definitely make the same choice as I did.
