Softube has released Metal Amp Room, a heavy-sounding counterpart to the brand's Vintage Amp Room.
The Vintage Amp Room's original features are all here, with the addition of an intelligent noise gate. The continuous mic placement system of the VAR was also enhanced to feature twin mics with adjustable stereo panning—thus allowing to get a huge stereo sound with complex adjustable phasing effects, a plain old one-mic-right-against-the-cone, or anything in between.
The cabinets were measured in the In Flames studio (previously known as Studio Fredman) by Tue Madsen and Patrik Jensen, and the amp emulations are rumoured to have been based on an Engl Powerball and Marshall JCM800.
Available as a VST, AU and RTAS plugin, Metal Amp Room is available from the Softube web shop at $179 (excl. VAT).
iLok owners can download a demo version from Softube here.
