It is a pocket amp battery operated. It is made from a pack of cigarettes.
Level there is a connection jack 6.35 for guitar and an output for an external cab.
This output can also be used to connect the unit to a standard instrument input amp. I come back later.
It delivers a power of 1 W in stand-alone mode. Plugged into a cab, it's something else ... I later returned too.
There is no adjustment, everything is done on the guitar.
UTILIZATION
Configuration is very simple.Il are three possible use of Smokey Amp. I detail later.
The manual is very amber it like a business card but it is more than enough given the simplicity of the thing.
It is easy to get a good sound, as long as the sound is to our taste, it is very ... typed.
SOUNDS
1 - In stand-alone
The sound will depend entirely on the settings and features of your guitar. Keeping in mind that the integrated HP is plastic and is smaller in diameter than a pack of cigarette, so good. By varying the volume, I can get a pretty clear sound even with humbuckers.
2 - Connect a cab.
Then it takes another dimension! I tested it on my HP Marshall VS 100 'Hat! One wonders how this thing develops such power! I think adding a volume pedal between the amp and cab would be welcome to tame the machine. If not for the setting, see config. 1
3 - Fuzz Box.
Connected between the guitar and amp, the sound gets very filthy but perfectly usable and very musical fuzz. On my Marshall Lead 12, it sounds awesome. Always vary the volume, we can clarify the way the 70's, and other Stooges but there's no clear (at the same time there would be nothing to plug the machine in this case).
The downside is that n 'there is no switch to disengage the effect, but do not ask too much either, it's not a pedal.
OVERALL OPINION
I received it yesterday and I'm not about to let go. At first sight, this is a gadget. But once you have tested different possibilities, in addition to the simplicity of the amp pocket, use the Fuzz Box is in my opinion the big plus of the object. Unless you already have a fuzz pedal of course.
The quality / price ratio depends on how we see the Smokey Amp. Single amp pocket, for the same price, there is stronger and with more control. But it is the next Fuzz Box and connection to cab that make it really interesting.
In short this is your use which will be a gimmick or a real tool.
