«  A very good amp to start »

Note that the set is looking solid. The pots are fun to use, the finish is generally good.

It is interesting to note that the original HP is well made: a Celestion G12 Vintage Rockdriver, it's nice to see!

UTILIZATION

There is no 15 000 ways to solve this ... We shoot buttons, yay it changes the sound, we fiddled 30 minutes, we're happy, we have good sound whether saturated or clean.
Small problem: as the clean sound is very good, the distortion is still very much clutter.
Like many amps in this range: the manual is useless.

Interesting note: I also have a low (an Ibanez GSR205, 5 string so), and the sound played is pretty clean in this amp!

SOUNDS

I think this is a very versatile amp, although it should be, I think, avoid playing with the big death metal (the distortion is far from the Mesa), unless you have dedicated pedals (like Metal Zone or consort).
The range of sound is still very wide, and for a beginner I think it's the kind of amp to be ideal: we begin to have a real sound! You can almost touch all musical styles.
Before this amp I had a little Fender Frontman Reverb 15w is the day and night.
I play with a Jackson Dinky DX10 (scratches entry) when I changed the pickups for Gibson 496R and 500T (the same as Explorer / Flying V), and the nickel is obtained, either in clear (note that the microphones tend to saturate in the clear, but they see output level is very high, it is not the fault of the amp) or saturated (it is due).

On occasion, I have connected a skyscraper in electro-acoustic, and again it sounds of thunder in clean.

With the bass, the sound obtained is again very interesting.

OVERALL OPINION

Personal I use since 2002, I never had a single problem.
I put just a little "-" to the distortion, which could be a little more defined and more accurate, but otherwise everything else is good:)

The quality / price ratio is perfect for me, hard to beat in the same niche.
At the time, I had not tried a lot of amps before buying it, but if the opportunity presented itself I would choose it anyway.

For a bargain price between 75 and 100th, as a beginner, you must go for!
