    Yamaha DG80-210A

Musician's Friend. I believe it was $1100. Was looking for a flexibile amp with a nice tube type of sound as well.

It sounds great. The tube simulation is top notch and the built in modeling systems are first rate for an amp in this range. The unit has two 10 inch Celestions driven with 40 watts each and for a solid state amp it cranks. Plus, it's a very attractive unit and I get compliments everywhere I go.

Most modeling amps can give you that Mesa Boogie rectifier sound, but I just can't get that with this amp, whether I'm using humbuckers or not. Don't get me wrong. It has nice distortions, but just not that extreme gain that the rectifier puts out.

Built like a tank. Relatively heavy and solid. Controls are not flimsy, but very well done and even the knobs are motorized.

I think this is a great amp. I'm really in love with it, especially when I need to run a line in for recording - it has built in XLR jacks and adjustable output for that stage. All in all, though, it's a little pricey. I think there's strong competition out there in this category and they could have added a little more power for the price.
