Hughes & Kettner Warp 7 Halfstack

This a German company who designs high quality guitar amps for touring musicians and the average consumer. They guitar amps that range from just a few hundred dollars to several thousand. The have a flagship amplifier and this is it. The Trimap from Hughes and Kettner.

Some big names have pickup amps from Hughes and Kettner including Alex Lifeson from the band Rush and Tommy Thayer from the band Kiss. Those two gentlemen have their own signature models but they have used been great artist for this company.

This was an interesting amp set up that didn't fare to well and quickly fizzled out. The look of it was interesting and strange. People generally don't buy half stack solid state amps so this was a bust. The other Warp amps in the series fare a little better but didn't really take off either.

This amps tone was kind of interesting as well. It was a hot rodded modern tone but the voicing was bit strange and not good for all things. This amp is a modern classic rock beast. The voicing of this amp is pure classic rock. The voicing of this amp is uber modern and for a solid state amp it just doesn't good over well with the people that would be into this sound. Don't get me wrong the tone is very cool and very usable, but the none tube thing just puts people off. They sound good with drop tuned guitars and humbucker hot rodded pickups. I can see this amp going over well i a combo version but not the half stack version.

These guitars have long been discontinued. So the use market is the only way to go with these amps now a days. They can be found pretty cheap in the classifieds and ebay. If you need a decent solid state amp that you can play at home silently with the headphone hook up or an amp that has an MP3 hook up then this is good one.

I think its a good amp, I ladore .. I play dessu depuisplus than a year ... and i ke to say is mostly below ...

USE

Bad point for this amp: the cabinet ... intransportable! but hey I'm half done and the charm of a head amp / cabinet this is the charm and potato ...

SONORITS

That is why I dpose this notice could sembl very poor ..! Lampl i sent back in full because after having compar with Warp Matrix dun, I told myself that my amp had a problem because I find its really too serious. you say, it is con il put 10/10 ... yes but the sound and too serious and dull with this cabinet .. but with a sound baffle, (in my case on March 1 YAMAHA channels an old trick and more ...) l is something else ... and the sound of the original post serious ultra cabinet over a cabinet that gets you all SGBA (called that for the first time jaivais daigus too !! i d remove), well, this is not good and may not like, but that's violent satu that jattendais a Mesa! assurment least prcis but the sound is good .... agrssif without serious losses in short, something of thunder gods pagans of our chre Scandinavia!

NOTICE GLOBAL

In short, I play this amp with coxx SG type >> Seynour with Duncan SH8 and jen deu relatively silent until that jessais branch of curiosity by a second speaker in addition to the original post, a baffle sono .... and i got the slap of my life ... I have not marter could play any laprme ... well, I suggest you dessayer this solution ... if you get along with your vendor gear, go have your head and your scraper to see if with a sound baffle has done ...

Jespre that it will be useful and can be even make you a pleasure to play on your gear !!! Good game to all!

UTILIZATION

Okay so the config is classic: a clean channel and a distortion channel with three bands + a chaquns adjustable on the presence in saturated (Warp) so no problem priori level rglages.
Now the question do you get a good sound easy, the rponse is certainly not the rglage of different bands is completely inngal, it was almost like some questions knobs could be made optional (bass) , for an amp as bizard be addapt GP style "nag".

SOUNDS

For résumé to: degeulasse completely clear sound, cold, without me ... Distortion: while the I understood nothing and yet I spent an hour trying all possible settings, ca drool is rough, there's no dynamic short a big soup koi.
To have a lil comparison j'me branch with the same stuff on Warp7 then a fender 25W amp poor, there's no foto ben h, the poor fender amp is a big slap in the Warp, c ' is that a 100W amp with 4 HP celestion sounds 10 times more crap than a 25W HP with a lil fender. Let's talk about cabinet: it is a shit, it vibrates, it dissonance and all you want.

OVERALL OPINION

My scratch using this amp for over a year, attracted by its reputation commertiale "big sound" and its modest cost, however, trs, as the result was deplorable in April, he asked me what I think. Frankly ... go your way, I truly believe that H & K could not care less of the mouth of the world ... ok we have a 100W and a trans Bafle 4 * 12 celestion seuelement for 1100 euros, was not something s'addentre exeptionnel but then .... There's foutage of the mouth.
So for the price There's the way to have an amp that sounds good and much better now nag for the same power. You want to buy it? change your mind ... it's a real crap

Very easy to use, a little too well ...

SOUNDS

I play punk-hxc (cf. thrice Death By Stereo Strung Out ...) with an Ibanez RG or (neo)-trash-metal on a Baritone Ltd and in both cases I find the sound distortion but very adequate a little too cold in the clear.
The distortion is fat and should rather on rhythm guitar, rock edgy things to extremes.
The only problem is that we have just one type of sound (but a very good sound) and the EQ does not change very little.

OVERALL OPINION

I use the warp 7 for 10 months and I do not change it for some time.
The distortion is really good even if it is better suited to the rhythm. You have to love the sound but it suits many styles, not just the neo-metal Disagree as they say sometimes the clear sound is poor but not really the interest of such an amplifier.
I got it for 944 euros and I think nine is a very good price / quality ratio and few have such a transistor amp sound. I part with it if one day I go to the amplification tube but not before I think.
This choice I would do without hesitation.
