Try it if you have the budget

(This content has been automatically translated from French)
Preamp which ranks in line with current best preamps such Neve, API, A-designs ... etc..
It is easily transportable which adds to its starting value. Clearly many bassists used directly live, by entering and two DI output
Transistor technology. 75db gain notched up with finer adjustment also possible.
Connectors XLR DI (separate transformer Jensen, the top).

    UTILIZATION

Simple configuration, lights you put the gain and appreciate his :)
There really is no need to book. Just know that the manual advises to start adjusting the preamp pushing the adjustable gain any right (max) and then mount the screen according to what you need. This is what brings more air into the preamp…

For the rest listening levels are checked and voila.

    SOUND QUALITY

Colorful colorful preamp. The sound is very thick and very pretty.
It is also so thick that there should be perhaps other preamps more "transparent" if we do a lot of track to track.
The sound is apparently close to Neve. In any case it sounds great on vocals, guitars, percussion.
The DI for the bass is just monstrous. The sound is almost final that's impressive.

    OVERALL OPINION

I have a few months. I had a Chameleon Labs 7602 modified usa before. I like the sound neve. It is much much better than the chameleon to its level (for almost the same price, I speak of the modified course, the chameleon of origin is cheaper).
The chameleon has a very good EQ by against him does not.
Value / normal price in the high-end pro there is not much below 1000 €.
His feature preamp / DI is undeniably great to have two devices in one of the top quality.
I will refer this choice a thousand times. This is I hope to keep as each purchase for me is never final (that is all that expensive anyway). In any case for voice and bass is really great (or incredible).

BAE Audio 1073 DMPPublished on 01/02/11 at 23:30
The Brent Averill DMP (desktop microphone preamplifer) is essentially a Neve 1073 in a box. It’s perfect for at home recording and anywhere where you might not have a console or too many external mic preamps. The DMP has everything you need to know about right on the front panel, also with a built in power supply. It’s got XLR connections for input and output as well as ¼” connections for a direct input, and two separate direct thru-puts. It also has built in phantom power and has a handle for easy portability. It’s not rack mountable as it’s meant to sit right on your desk – hence the name!

    UTILIZATION

There’s not much at all to using the Brent Averill DMP. It simply has a large gain knob for setting the level coming in and a separate output knob for finer adjustments. It has phase reverse and phantom power buttons as well. It couldn’t be more foolproof, so there’s no need for a manual.

    SOUND QUALITY

This is a true Neve 1073 inside a box, so expect nothing less than the full sound you’d get with any other 1073. The DI is Jensen based and sounds incredible as well. This is really the perfect one stop shop for recording anything and everything at home. It would be nice to have in a professional studio as well, but it’s definitely best suited for home studio owners looking to get a fuller and more professional sound while using their DAW. The 1073 is arguably the best mic preamp ever made, so you really can’t go wrong here.

    OVERALL OPINION

The Brent Averill DMP is one of the best ways to get a bona fide 1073 right on your desktop. If you’ve got a little project studio at home, this is absolutely perfect for you! I’m seriously thinking about getting one, as it only costs around $1000 US dollars for a top of the line mic preamp and direct input box in one. It’s also nice that it’s super easy to bring on the go for remote recording if needed. Give your home studio a much needed boost with the DMP!
